Yes, you're right. The defender wasn't too bad (at all) in terms of speed and shield recharge rate, but if the things got caught in your turret fire, they were dead in seconds.
Actually, I think the Krait might be a little cooler then the Defender...

Nah it is not cooler then the defender, I used to burn around in one of those little defenders on passenger missions, it was cooooool.

I've heard some people say the Emalgha weapons suck. How can you say that? With a combonation of say 3 or 4 Emalgha Cannons and say the plasma siphon, you can battle a voinian frigate a lot damn easier than you could with a plasma siphon and some blaze cannons...or even phase cannons. Unfortunately it has TERRIBLE accuracy, and doesn't shoot far. So I guess you could say "it takes a skilled captain" to use emalgha weapons.

The Voinian supply ship is so slow that a pece of paper could fly faster then it (assuming the paper doen't fly). Seems that Voinian ship cost's more and is so slow, but has one gun and is to slow to use it. But the UE ship is half it's mass (goes alot faster, also in the head) and has faster shield recharge rate. I'd rother run away and come back with a better UE ship then act dead like a Voinian with a slow stinky ship.

True that a shuttle stinks. But how much does a krait suck?? I'm guessing that everyone's going to be runing to it to help the poor little thing because it can't take on squat.
Before LoneVoinian comes in and rubbishes the blaze cannons, let me do it first. They are first of all, incredibly inaccurate, secondly they have to be practically bumping ships, for these 1960's lasers to work.
The worst ship? Quite definately, the Krait. A fully upgraded one, however can be as formidable as any azdara. I fly one in one of my games, after selling down my beloved Miranu Gunship.
Anyway, I'm expecting Lone, as I said, to agree with me on the blaze matter.

Actually, the Blaze Cannon is rather accurate. It's the Blaze Turret can't hit the broad side of a Voinian Cruiser.

Now Carnotaur, I've told you 100,000 times not to exagerate. The Blaze Turret is not that inacurate, just not the best. And yes, it can hit the broad side of a Voinian Cruiser, atleast when I play. They ususally seem to blow them up, too.

I was exaggerating, but you have to agree the Blaze Turret is the 2nd most inaccurate weapon in the game (primary weapon at least, and with the Emalgha "Turret" taking 1st).

Yeah, I know. But the Blaze Turret seems to work well against Voinian Cruisers when I use them, because the ship is so big and fat. (Sorry, just trying to insult your liking for the cruiser ) Otherwise, I do agree. The Blaze Turret is no expert on accuracy, and the Emalgha turret is somewhat...pathectic.
I might be able to counter the blaze bashing. First off, (when compared to the Neutron Turret) it is a LOT faster at firing, and easier to hit your opponent. With the neutron turret, you have to spend at least 30 seconds preparing your aim just to hit the guy, by that time, your enemy is caught up with you and is blasting your hull into pieces. I for one, "Monty-Python" all the time, and have tried using Neutron Cannons, and Turrets, and it just isn't worth it. Also, the Blaze equipment is very cheap, so it's not that bad of a weapon. Also, the neutron equipment may be the strongest, but I have learned rather to hit the enemy more times, rather than trying to hit him with that strong, hard-to-aim weapon.
When compared to the Phase equipment, it may not be as fast firing, but the Phase Cannon is a bit too accurate. Like with the Neutron weapons, you have to have precise aim to hit your opponent. With the Blaze cannon, its almost spread shot, giving you an easy time of hitting your target.
Thanks for the support, Stud! Everything you said sound like proven facts to me. Sometimes, I think that the inaccuracy of the blaze turret it rather good...When you are being swarmed by fighters, the spread of the blaze turret gives all the ships some damage.
Thou fools. I've destroyed entire Voinain Frigates in a UE Destroyer just by getting up close and personal and firing nothing but blaze turrets. So there.

Of course, 6 Phase Turrets can level a UE Cruiser in three seconds. Well, not really, but close. Phase weaponry is killer against any UE vessel.

Carnotaur, are you exagerating again!? (J/K...trying to drive you crazy ) Six phase turrets will hurt any race except the Voinians, not just the UE. Sometimes I like to get my Igazra and fit five Phase turret on it and jump into the Sol system so I can blow up every UE ship in the area. That can be fun.
After some vigorous battles and raids on the Voinians, I have noticed an unbelievably CRAPPY ship, that no one, has mentioned. The Krait may be bad, but what about the Voinian Interceptor?
The thing is totally useless! NO room for expansion, NO shields, probably still worthless with all the shield generators/upgrades/etc. and the armor, is pretty crappy, even for being a voinian ship! It's also the fastest voinian ship, but a UE fighter could beat it in a race by about 3 hours anyday, and, a single hunter missile can disable it! I tried that on a Krait, it just took a big chunk out of it's shields, and blew it away! I think the Voinian Interceptor is the worst ship in the game. Period.

Oh yeah...There's one I forgot about. It's firepower is the only thing that makes it half good.
Worst ship: the ol' "Woodworm express," the Emalgha freighter. What sort of lunatic builds a ship out of wood? Worst weapon: Phased Beam. No damage to armor, drains fuel, not hugely appreciable damage to shields, and you CAN NEVER GET RID OF THE THING!
