Gadzair conquerable?

One time I was just messing with this plug that gave you an invincible ship with guided, powerful primary weapons. I was just going to scratch it, since invinci plugs don't interest me, but then, just for fun, I thought I'd try to conquer Gadzair... I couldn't do it. The station's defense fleet simply wore me out. I had the game running at 2x to get through the waves of CWs quicker. I was destroying a CW per 6 seconds, and I think I was fighting for about an hour and a half. Gyawd! They defeated me through boredom.

Does anyone know if you can really dominate Gadzair, or do they have an infinite amount of CWs?

Just about. They have something like 3000 CWs in their. Now multiply that by three and you get 9000 Crescent Fighters. Yikes! I did a certain proceedure to get myself tons of escorts, so that only one CW could pop up at a time, and I defeated it after 3 CWs. I don't now how it worked, but it did. Bad thing is, they give you very very little credits.

Hmm... might as well try to dominate an uninhabited asteroid. It'd be easy to take over, and it could yield minerals. In EV3, you might even be able to harvest something. 🙂
thanks for the info.

I agree with you about plugs of invincibility. However, if I'd wanted to dominate Crescent station in this way I'd have turned the sound down to zero, fixed my fire button down with blu-tack or weighed it down with a book, and switched the monitor off. Oh - and cranked the speed up to 450%, using the slider on the game settings page. I've seen the details of Crescent Station in EV-Edit, though... a thousand credits per day (the minimum) and no special missions or other benefits. Forget Crescent Station.

Of course in Beyond the Crescent (see plugins section) you get to blow a very similar place to bits... most satisfying!

Actually all you have to do is get the plug-in "dominator" which makes it so every planet has only 38 ships, no more, no less. Well, only inhabited planets of course!

You gotta be kidding!? You actually did all that with the book and all? ROFL! So you were actually able to take the station doing that? I have a question, though...How were you able to select other targets? Did you have a book on the "target closest enemy," also? (I thought you had to keep hitting it over and over for it to work) Anyway, I'll have to try that sometime...I've tried numerous times taking Sol, but this idea sounds good.

I did say "if I'd wanted to..." Hadn't thought about retargeting. I guess you have various options. Front-firing weapons would be better than turreted ones because then you wouldn't need to retarget. Maybe used in combination with a stuck-down autopilot key? Target the planet or station, and you'd keep flying back towards the centre. There is also the point that your escorts would still attack the defense fleet, and they seldom get attacked. Defense fleets always seem to go for the player.
