Demanding Tribute from Earth...

I was playing my file the other day and got a hinkering for conquering a large planet so I challenged Earth. Took a few minutes but I finally got tribute from it. I looked at my ranking in the system and it said "Usurper" or something like that. Can anyone tell me exactly what this is since I am too lazy to look it up?

I've seen that rating before in systems where I was really hated...I too don't know what it means. Maybe it is worse then a Galactic Scourge? 🙂

Usurp:
{yoo-sűrp} v.

To unlawfully seize and hold power, property, or authority.

Usurper: n.

One who usurps.

Roots: Middle English Usurpen, Old Enlish Usurper, Latin Usurpare - to take into use.

In EVO, it means that you have dominated some of the stellars in a system. If you've dominated all the stellers in a system, you become an overlord.

That's interesting. The word almost implies that you already rule over the system. Did you actually take over Earth when your legal status was Unsurper? Usually when I take a planet, my legal status is "Overlord."

Did you take Earth and Luna? it could give you that rating cause you took only one of the 2 (well, technically 3) planets.

True. I'll bet that you are a Unsurper when you own only part of a system, and then become Overlod once the whole system is conquered.

You get the Usurper title if you don't own all the planets in a system. For example, if I conquer Borb Station but not Voina I'm a usurper. But once I hold both spöbs then I get to be an Overlord.

You get an Uspur status when you've only dominated one of several other inhabited planets in a system. Overlord is when you've dominated all the planets in a system and fully control the entire system.

Yep. If you take over a system with more than one planet/station/moon, but only take over one of them instead of all of them, you get Ursurper. I took over Emalghion without taking over its two moons and got Ursurper, but I've conquered both moons now so I'm an Overlord status.

My fav way to take over is by using space mines and lotsa escorts. I get six Azdgari Warships and have them deploy all their fighters. Then I lay a single space mine on the planet. I demand tribute and they appear, explode and hand over the planet!

Awesome idea! I've never tried that with the space mines. 😄 Usually I get a lot of escorts also, only they are usually Crescent Warships, or United Earth vessels if I have access to them.

Bah...escorts. I like challenges. I'll go for dominaiton as a loner! 😄

Its actually really fun, because, with escorts, they can blow up the defense fleet without even getting a single shot thrown at them, because defense fleets want ONLY you. Thats why I dominate by myself.

Ofcourse, then there are places like Gadzair...

One thing about the difference between Usurper and Overlord: I was in some system (can't remember which) with three inhabited planets--something like Emalghion--and after dominating two of the three stellars, I was an Overlord. I think you only need to have 51% control of a system to be its Overlord, not necessarily 100%. That's why 2-spöb systems give you Usurper, b/c you're at 50%.
