who are these people

I was flyin along when i saw the disco bison. I had no shields but I shot it.it emited a sond and destoyed me. who are the disco bison and eliziba rib. they arent ambrosia people.

Funny you bring this up. The Disco Bison has been in discussion here at the boards recently. I made the same mistake a few months ago. I fired at him, and his reply was his "disco machine gun". (It was an Emalgha warship (freighter) right?) His weapon is the Emalgha cannon with unbelievable range and such a high rate of fire is looks like a long, grey laser beam. I've gotten away from him before, but usually people who pick on him don't live to tell about it. He emited a sound, you say? I can't remember if the Disco Bison carries SAD modules, but I bet that's what they were.

The Disco Bison and Elizabeth Rieb are just a couple of the NPC's (that does stand for Non-Player Character, right?) you'll find flying around the galaxy. Others include the famous U.E.S. Incontrovertable (flagship of the UE fleet), Ali Saidi ("Go support UE search and rescue, GET LOST!"), and Zacha Jos Delbar ("Out of the way, my fries are getting cold!"), and the various Azdgari personalities such as the A.S.S. Imprudent ("Don't take this personally, I attack everyone!")

They're characters that fly specific ships, often quite upgraded ones, and show up occasionally in various spots. Beware, though, they can hold grudges if you shoot at them, and if they do they'll attack you whenever they show up in the future.
