In Override, CH is a lot more aggressive and annoying. He appears less often to send his message, but he steals from you! I was on a planet doing my thing, then, when I left, I got this message saying that Captain Hector had held up the Galactic Bank or something and he had stole 100 000 of my HARD EARNED credits! This was after I had the EVO demo for 4 days! I had always loved EV, so there was no doubt that I was going to register EVO, but stealing! Arghhhh!
Oh yeah, Captain Hector is one of the most original ideas to get people to register shareware, I kinda found it funny when I was robbed. Has CH ever done this to anyone else? Has he ever done anything worse?

You may think it's funny the first time he holds up the bank, but when he steals millions from you just as you're about to buy that brand-spanking new crescent warship... well, then it just ain't funny. And if you hold on to that unregistered copy for a sizeable period of time (not that I would know anything about this), the cap'n will start to shoot you. I'd register quickly. Captain Hector is evil incarnate.
Hmm.....CH is a big problem.......Every once in a while he'll steal my credits but I have so damn many credits I don't pay much attention to it. Though I really would like him to earn his own credits instead of stealing them. (By the way, my credit number right now is somewhere in the hundred-thousands methinks, I hafta check on that.)

That parrot is stealing from me all the time! I was onmly a jump away from getting that UE cruiser when Cap'n Hector took THREE MILLION CREDITS! I suppose the technique worked, however, as I just registered three days ago. Still haven't gotten my reg # yet, though...

Hehe, he can be a pain, but as long as you don't press Okay or whatever on the dialog that tells you he's stolen from you, you should be able to get out of it.. using an emulator on PC I just told it to exit.. and force quitting on mac should do the same, then it'll revert the saved game to last landing as usual :).
I got so annoyed with it the first time I force quit it and miracle halleighluya(sp?) it was back so I got used to it when he stole 1/3rd of my 20million cred bank account every 10 minutes

Hey MartiNZ where did u get the emulator for your pc, i play evo on my dads IMAC and i hate the small keyboard and mouse. I perfer my pc much better

CH is just part of the problem, I've had it for a while unregistered (and I mean a LONG while) and a small Ambrosia FLEET of decently powerfull ships came after me! Luckily I was able to cloak and sneak by as it destroyed most the other ships in the area. But the damn parot has also stolen quite large amounts from me and CH still wont shut up!
They sent a fleet at you!? WOW! I've heard stories of hector stealing, being annoying, and going after you like a mad renegade, but never a FLEET going after you! LOL!!!

My older brother was able to fix Hector's hales a long time ago. With EV, Hector was saying things like "Rose are red, Violets are Blue, the Rebellion is cool, and so are you!". Just crazy things like that. (My brother is a pro in ResEdit) The same goes for EVO, only editing his hales doesn't stop Hector from steeling your credits.

Well, if you buy a lot of expensive fighters when you've got some money CH can't steal them. And when you know you got enough of money to buy your new shining ship, sell all those expensive fighters, get money and buy the ship. You are low on credits that CH can steal in that way but you still have them as safe as anything. (Yes, you can buy something else then fighters, but they doesn't need any space in tons and are usually pretty expensive.) Making Captain H. say other things then his usual "Register or I'll shot" isn't very hard. His text is in the STRING-file if you open EV data with ResEdit.
hmmm...No offense, but you people sure seem to be keeping EVO unregistered a long time and are getting very annoyed with CH. Figure it'd be a load off your mind just to register.

I'm registered... and let me tell you, the galaxy seems a much lonelier place without that little blue Helian popping up all over the place. Even when you're supposedly in uncharterd territory doing nebula penetrations...
Captain Hector robbed me a few times in the early days. It seemed that the emount he stole was proportional to the amount I had; I soon learned to buy expensive ship upgrades. Put your money into your ship... and pray you don't have to use your escape pod!
Captain Hector never shot at me though... just how long have you been playing?

I believe Hector once stole close to 8 million credits. Yup, I registered within the next ten seconds. The biggest problem is: he is impossible to kill, technically you could area-forklift him but he would come back in the next jump.

There is also a plug-in called "Million Dollar Credit Sticks" that does the same as the expensive fighter idea. I think it disapeared with the old site, though.
