That's a quote from the diary of Anne Frank isn't it?

The best way to get upped karma is probably the chronicles, i've seen people with hundreds of posts more than me with a lower karma simply because they never posted a chronicle.
I know it's kind of backed up but try going to other web board chronicles, i use Cythera and EVO. No one's getting mad at me (I hope 🙂 )
**

THIS IS NOT TRUE!!! Sorry about yelling, BUT I do not give out karma for submitting to the EV/O Chronicles! I think the mod who edits the Cythera Chronicles does, but only for really good stories.
I repeat: I am the editor of the EV/O Chronicles, and I assure you, I do NOT give out karma points just for submitting stories. Spread the word. And the backlog has probably been caused by people submitting a lot of stuff just because they thought they were going to get karma.

UE General: You are learning the forum ettiquette. You have come a long way since you typed without punctuation, and posted a zillion times in the same string saying the same thing. I think there are only a few things you need to work on now:

If you are listing things in a string, rather than replying with new ideas, then edit one of your earlier posts (just click on the edit symbol, and then add what you want to say to that post) rather than spamming up the string.

Stop asking for karma and stop trying to get people to like you.

Just read and reply to strings you are interested in, proofread your posts before hitting the submit button, and eventually you'll fit right in. And if anyone brings up how you used to be, it will be as a funny story. Don't worry, your negative karma will go up after a while.

Also, make sure you read the posts you are replying to carefully, so that you aren't making replies that aren't on the subject.

Entropy:
You didn't lose a point for quoting Monty Python. One of the mods mistakenly thought that you were personally insulting him, instead of just showing ways to insult people without swearing. It's cleared up now, and you should have your karma back.

Maybe he's offering New Zealand dollars... Um, in which case, he must live well on the way to Antarctica, to get snowfalls in February.

Seriously, people, everyone who has good karma is a regular contributor to the developers' board. Since the only kind of 'help' you can give someone on the Override web-board is mission spoilers and endlessly answering questions like "What is the Monty Python maneuver?", it's not the place to hang around if you really crave karma. There is also a theory that the best way to amass karma is to be really offensive, and then to reform... well, maybe. That might seem unfair to 'ordinary folks' but if it makes the boards a more polite place then it's a good thing.

I'm sorry my karma ran over your dogma. (url="http://"http://www.geocities.com/evodude2001/home.html")New & Improved: Cerberus Station!(/url)
I got this .sig file at insanely_great.com - don't even think about taunting me!

I also give good karma to people who are kind to others (like towards newbies, for example) or who try to be the voice of reason or compassion when things are getting out of hand, in addition to those who make helpful posts.

As for being offensive, then reforming--nope that doesn't work unless you become a really decent poster, because although bad karma will get better, it won't go past 0 unless you do something pretty good.

I just don't care about karma.. Sure, mine gets whacked every now and then, but oh well! It's just back up again in a couple of days.. And with my attitude, (read sig), my karma will never go up!!

And my karma will always go down. I'm probably going to get banned very soon. :frown:

------------------

Well, I hope you don't get banned, so I'll give you a few tips:

1-Spelling mistakes and bad grammar get on mods nerves. Be careful about that. Always make sure your post doesn't have any of that stuff in it.

2-Swearing gets on mods nerves. Don't use that either.

3-Lots of smilies REALLY get on mods nerves! Be very sparing about using them!

4-Read the (url="http://"http://www.AmbrosiaSW.com/webboard/guidelines.html")Webboard Guidelines(/url). They can give you some helpful hints on how to become a good user with good karma.

5-When you voice your opinions, don't say "Oh really? WELL I DON'T AGREE WITH YOU! BLAH!" When voicing your opinions, always be cautious about it.

6-Don't spam. Spamming creates banning (hey, that ryhmes!). 😉

I really don't have any more advice for you. Hope this helps.

A few more things not to do are:

1-Don't use lots of caps in your posts.

2-Don't use lots of exclamation marks.

Uh...Well, I doubt mentioning reasons why you got better karma will help much. If I were you, I would be a little more careful about what I say. Just play it safe like you're suppost to.

What?
Some topics, like help topics, stories, and conversation topics involve multiple postings on everyone involved's part, especially the topic starter. I don't think your advice will allow anyone to gain karma.

Don't post ,10 times, in a row. I think that's what he means. Now I think this Karma thing is not half bad idea.

------------------

I think he meant not to post Too. Its okay to post a lot, and on certain topics you might have to post a bunch, but just don't spam or post unnessicarily (sp?).
