I like capturing ships... doesn't everybody? Unfortunetly, when i try to capture a new ship with my current one, it's easy to get the enemy disabled, but then my escort blows him up. How can i prevent this? Can it be prevented?

Unless you have remapped the keyboard commands, it's the 'V' key. Press 'C' afterwards to wake the escorts up again, or land and take off again, or jump into a new system.

Wait a minute...This is the same problem I've always had. With my ship-based fighters, using those keys will get them to stop shooting, but if you have escorts that have been captured by you, I can never get them to stop. Not once have I been able to stop them in their tracks before they destroyed the ship I wanted to board. When you guys say you know the keys to halt your escorts, are you talking about your ship-based fighters, or captured escorts?

Captured escorts suck. You have very little control over them, so they often end up destroying stuff that yuo don't want destroyed.

Yeap, exactly my problem. Captured escorts just can't be controlled! Sometimes I get so mad at them that I release them from service and then destroy them. Hopefully EV Nova will have some kind of handy feature where you can leave your escorts at a planet while you do a missions, or atleast enable you to tell them to stay still and let you do the job.
You just can't tell captured escorts who to attack, that's all. They obey all other commands, like hold position and call back, which will make them stop attacking..

"Hopefully EV Nova will have some kind of handy feature where you can leave your escorts at a planet while you do a missions" I have been reading the progress log and you should be able to sell your escorts and upgrade them.
The return to formation key only stops your escorts from attacking the enemy if the ship is disabled... a time when it's very likely it's too late to stop its destruction. But if you just hit the v key in the middle of a skirmish between one of your escorts and an enemy ship, your escort will stop attacking, but it's very likely the enemy will continue to attack the escort, when the escort will begin fighting again. It's best to hit the v key just as you're firing on the enemy ship (and hence drawing it's fire) so your escorts aren't provoked into attacking again. Or you can just do what I do and tell your escorts to hold formation as soon as you enter a system or liftoff. I like to do most of my fighting myself.

Really? That would be great! Boy, the more I here about Nova, the more I can't wait to play it.

Is there anyway to tell you hired escorts to fire at all ships that are hostile to you except one of them?

Ok... Cool... That was my other question. I captured a Voinian Frigate with a 6% capture probrobility. Now that i have it, i want to keep it safe, but it sounds like i can't leave it anywhere until Nova comes out. Thanks for all the helpfull info!
