One SCREWED up world. And its all my fault... (unless you help me :))

Yeah, hi. Remember how I said I had 6 levels that I would release upon testing them with the full version for any minor unexpected bugs. I have a big "bug".

Since I started editing on the demo version, I had to number my levels starting @ 80. Well now the full version doesn't seem to like that very much ;). Whenever I try and load my game I either get an error about not being able to load the level file, or it runs the original game's first level. Now don't say it, I 've tried to renumber my levels w/ Resedit, but then the MASCOT editor doesn't like it  . If anyone could please help me with this problem, cause i don't want to re-do my levels. Thanx

PS: I've not given up yet, its just I figure two heads are better than one. If I figure it out I'll be sure to say so.

Hey, well I did just figure it out. I guess the first level HAS to be 1 but then you can use whatever numbers you like. Well thanks. (for nothing I guess lol)

PS: See Andrew, this would be a good use of the author being able to delete his/her own posts. (But I get your point thought, I think we're better off without) Yes, moderators this is a hint- delete this unless you think it has somesort of relevance to nothing

Well, actually, yes, it does have a point.

Also, you will need to make "nodes" if you haven't already.
To do this, paste the Tewraknorn map into your level with ResEdit, and create a node for each level in MASCOT.

I think there's more info on this somewhere...

Do you want to join the One Big World project?

It's my understanding that the One Big World Project will be a collection of levels all wraped up into one data file. If that's true I assume there would be heavy limitations upon use of all the data forks of the data file. Well, I've already got 11 levels made (OK I lied, I've got 9 levels made, copied one from the original game and one is under construction), and I'm not sure I'd find enough room for all the members already involved. Finally, I find editing all by myself, with no one elses' problems, quite difficult and StReSfUlLlLlLl!!!!!!!!!!

So no, I don't think I'll join the One Big World, unless they're having some last minute drought on levels and need some, then I might be inclined to join, but otherwise I'll just release my levels on my on accord.

I do think the Big World project will be a sucess in one way or another, and I'll play it as soon as it gets put together.

PS: Can a person upgrade a file they've posted without leaving the original hanging around? (ie: a partial version to be replaced by the full version)

(This message has been edited by Dr Tall (edited 12-27-2000).)

The submitter can't do a file-switch like that automatically, although the moderator usually does that anyway by deleting the old file and putting the new file in its place.

It would be very cool if the people who posted a message could delete it, instead of editing their messages so it says something to the effect of: (moderator please delete this message).

I actually asked Andrew about that and he said (and I agree now) that some jackass might just delete the post that started a huge conversation just to be well, a jackass. (please note that those were not his exact words 😉 )
