FH Rigel dissidents mission

Hi, I've got a problem with this mission that I think I received at Earth.

I was told to go to the Rigel system, land on Rigel VI, give a password, then go to Rigel IV and contact the dissidents.

When I set off for Rigel (in my Artemis) I was told that the mission had failed (as I arrived in the Rigel system) - out of time.

So, on seeing the dot next to the mission in my mission computer, I aborted the mission, thinking I would be able to pick it up again and perhaps have to do the mission in a smaller (1 day jump per system) ship. But, the mission never appeared again.

Do I need this mission? How can I get it again? Have I blown it by aborting it?

I've read previous threads about this mission which suggested you could perhaps pick it up again at the missions computer on Rigel VI but I tried that without success.

Any advice welcome -thanks in advance.

I don't know if you need to do the mission to complete other threads, but either way, you have blown it. I hope you backed up your pilot.

BTW, Martin Turner you did a great job writing these mission strings! 🙂

ps.I've decided to delete this post as soon as glynor replies so as to force other parties to figure it out for themselves.<<

hehe. You're to late. 🙂

Thankyou.

This was technically the hardest part of FH to write at the time. However, EVO 1.0.2 now has a feature that makes it very easy. I'm gradually progressing on FH 2, and there may be more 'decide on the moment' missions in that.

Thanks Rebel! I've noted the info, started the game again and I'll not screw it up this time. It's a shame though that this mission is so easy to fail just because you don't have a small enough (fast enough) ship - (or am I mistaken in that?). There was no warning in the mission briefing that if you have an Artemis (for example) that there is no way you can complete this mission on time, so will automatically fail it due to running out of time - seems a little mean.

Either that is true, or I accidentally made some stops on the way to completing the mission that ate up too much time. I don't remember exactly - perhaps the author of the plug-in (Martin?) would be able to tell me.

Thanks for your help.

Just to set it right, there IS a warning - you only got five or six days it says in the briefing. You'll see when you get there. (Why are you flying around in an Artemis, anyway?)

The Artemis seemed like a good, fairly well armored ship for the price..now I'm using a Falcon...very easy to afford when you use Res-Edit to give you 10m credits for every Rush mission 🙂

You will not be able to complete any of the main sequence missions in a Falcon. It's too heavy.

You could, of course, go into ResEdit and make it lighter, but, then, why not skip playing altogether and just read all the descs?

Just a little, little while, and you will have a ship that can knock the stuffing out of a Falcon, or, dare I say it, take on a Rigellian Hunter-Killer.

I have a question: I've never played Frozen Heart. Never got around to it. And so I was wondering this: How good is FH? Should I download it? What are its good points and bad points?

Thanks Martin for the advice. I never thought about the possibility of another ship. The faster, lighter ones seemed so wimpy in terms of armor and space for weaponry...but I'll take your advice, go back to a lighter ship and see what Santa (or the EVO equivalent) brings me in terms of a better ship.

As far as using Res-Edit, I thought I would have to play the game for hundreds of hours doing boring missions before I could afford a good ship like the Falcon, so this seemed like a way of cutting out all those hours of unexciting trading. Now I see the other possibility, that a better ship might be provided as a reward for some missions and that I don't need 10s of millions of credits...I'll reset FH with Res_edit, buy a Buccaneer and try and fulfil the missions without getting killed.

Still seems hard to me to imagine doing some of those fighter pilot training missions in a Buccaneer...too little armor even with both shield upgrades and Balearic coating...but if that's the only ship (or one equally small with equally little armor/shields) that can do these missions in the time given..I guess that's the only solution. So far, trying those missions in a small ship, I can't really help the pilots accompanying me...and either they, or I get killed. I thought the only solution was a better ship, but perhaps I need to learn some better combat skills.

Thanks for your input Martin - FH is an intriguing game and I like the character development that has gone into such personalities as Lindi Van Roth - makes the game so much more than a shoot-em-up.

Onward, back to battle, with those weak shields/armor and a lot of prayer...

Tip for FH: Play chess. It's good for you.

You are right here, and take a Wanderer (with those upgrades) instead of a Buccaneer, and this is right, too: try playing some chess. You'll like the new ship...

Oh, The new ship, it's one of the funniest ships to play in any EV/O plug 🙂

Do people agree? Is the Wanderer the better ship for those early missions?

Thanks

I have a wanderer and can't complete the dissident mission on rigel in the required time. Just as I enter the system, it says, "time expired-mission failed" The time between jumps is only one day, so what gives?

It is four jumps away, so I should beat the requirement by one day...

Please help...

Or as I read, does this misison even matter???

I use a Rim prospector. It has very good armor and it makes jumps very quickly.

Carnotaur-FH is EXTREMELY good. Download and play it at all costs, even your life.
