Is there a timeline for the plot of EV or EV:O? i need it for my story im writing

Not really. There are mission lines, but most arn't interconected to each other, so it doesn't matter in what order you do it in to much.

However, you do have to do some strings before you can do others, so there is some timeline, but only barely.

If what you're asking is something like: Are EV and EVO related? Then the answer is no.

I guess EV and EV:O are parallel universes. They are quite similar in some ways - both feature a human race that employs a Christian calendar and developed into an industrialised society with an interest in colonisation. In EV, the humans are (almost) alone in their part of space, whereas in EV:O they are only one contender among a number of intelligent, spacefaring species.
Of course, in the EV universe it seems to be a law of physics that turreted weapons fire almost always misses
Dark Templar - make up whatever you want to include in the background of your story. The players won't crucify you if you depart from the 'official' reality as presented in the game. Nobody complained when I invented new planets, new outfits or ships in my stories.

I made a plug-in where both universes existed as paralell universes, and they player discovers a wormhole connecting them. But I got a little furstrated with it, so it doesn't have too many missions. Oh well, there's always version 2...
