Hi, I'm trying to restore my diplomatic status with the Nine Worlds (though I can't exactly remember why they don't like me anymore...) and I'm given a handwritten letter on Aphrodite which I have to deliver to Earth in 5 days. So far so good.
The problem is, any way I plot it, even in my spiffy Tachyonic fighter, it's a 7 jump minimum to get to Earth.
I was warned about some astro hazards to be wary of, such as the Black Hole in Styx and some caustic solution in another system..which I thought would be a clue (eg, the black hole is secretly a wormhole direct to the Sol 3 system or something like that), but I have no idea how to access it if that is the case.
I tried to attack the black hole (unsuccessfully) with an IMP missile, but unfortunately the shock wave destroyed one of the accompanying Democrat ships that are permanently on my tail since accepting this mission and I'm not supposed to engage them in combat. I think my excuse that I was trying to implode the black hole didn't really wash with them, since I got an immediate "Mission failed" notice when one of them died.
Any help appreciated...either a total spoiler answer or an unsubtle hint, or some indication that I'm on the right track...
Thanks...

Check the info again... You're just being WARNED... don't kill it! The black hole mission comes later at the end of the mission strings... just fly to earth.. and just don't kill those democrats... I had a worse problem. My escorts wouldn't stop killing them... If all else fails, just open the Frozen heart data and make a connection between Aphrodite and Sol 3... saves you allot of trouble hehe

This mission didn't seem possible any way I tried it. Unless I wanted those 4 democrat ships with me forever, getting in the way of my innocent blasting of pirates, the only alternative was to abort the mission. I tried continuing and landing at Earth but got no response to the handwritten note that was supposed to give me better status with the 9 worlds.
Since then, though, I've not had any "mission string" type mission, unless you count the "Establish Diplomatic Relations" missions - I've done about 6 of those, but I can't seem to find any missions that involve Baxter, Katherine or otherwise, or anything that is related to the plot.
Any clues anyone?
Thanks
I was stuck at the same point... just search the galaxy... You'll eventually get the next mission... That's how I got it... I think the next mission starts at New Devore... I'm not sure though.. ------------------ Arrrrrr!!!

Did you say earth? haha no wonder you have to land on earth station
No, I did land at Earth Station...not Earth. I was just using shorthand but I realize it's significaNew Testament in this case.
I'll try New Devore to pick up the mission threads again.

Nope, New Devore didn't yield any new missions other than simple cargo deliveries...
Anyone else got any ideas?
Abort the mission and pick it up somewhere closer to Earth -- it isn't bound to any particular port. The reason for this is to keep the player on his toes checking whether or not missions are completeable before accepting them. Try Gold Rush.
