OK... I'm playing the Voinian mission string, and I got myself a wicked awesome Voinian Cruiser that's upgraded to go as fast as a Crescent Warship. It kicks so much butt in the Crescent, and it's pretty much impossible for me to lose a battle. I'm currently in the process of capturing large escort ships of the Crescent and other places, but I'm trying ot only capture ships that have weird titles. Such as the A.S.S. Flippant, and so forth (even though I'm working for the Azdgari). Anyway, I happened to be flying south through Igadzra space when I happened to find the I.S.S. Undercover. "Lucky me!" I thought. It started the attack first by sending out 3 Igazra Crescent Fighters, and I, being in a Voinian Ship, disabled the Igazra (Undercover) with only about losing all my shield and 3% of my armor. I boarded the ship, expecting it not to work, and noticed that the cash he was carrying was 4.84M. I thought that was pretty good, so I took the money and then hit capture. It worked as well. I chose it as an excort, and I've been running around with it recently, but the only problem is that the Crescent Fighters don't ever come out of it. So my question is, "Does it really matter if you capture a weird ship like that?" "Will the Fighters ever come out?" Peace out!

This was talked about a while back I think. Any upgrades done to a ship are not carried over when you use it as an escort. So, in your case the Igazra with the fighter bay no longer is equiped with one because it was a special upgrade. Same thing goes if your ship (shipA) has special upgrades and you capture a ship (shipB) as use as your own. Ship A which is now your escort would not have the upgrades you gave it... Now the question I have is if you captured a ship (ie A.S.S. Flippant) and used it as your own would the A.S.S. Flippant still have the upgrades?
------------------ "As you wish."
You have just met one of the famous 'S.S. Traders'..
They all have powered up ships, take the Disco Bison, for example.. Beat him if you can, but capture him and it reverts back to a regular Elmalgha ship!!
So in other words, you can't keep his upgrades...

No.
It sucks that you don't keep the upgrades. Hopefully in EVN.....

So far, according to the progress logs, it doesn't look like it's going to happen.
Here's how it works right now: When a ship is captured, it reverts to a standard ship of that type. Virtually every named ship has a pers resource. The only exception to this that I'm aware of is the Nadir, which has its own ship type. (It might also have a pers, but I don't remember right now.) In order to have every named ship to retain special weapons when captured, each variant would have to have its own ship type. Since the number of different ship types is currently severely limited, this is just not feasible. Also, in order to keep the weapons between trips to the outfit shops, the weapons must have corresponding outf resources. Again, we run into potential space problems, although this isn't quite such a big concern, since the max number of outf resources exceeds the max number of weap resources.
I think that's about enough rambling for one night...
