Also, if you capture one and then do the Hinwar missions, you will have two hundred more men on board. So no more saying the UE Cruiser is the best.

Yes, but the UE Cruiser has more sheilds than the Voinian Cruiser, which are also a factor in capturing ships. Also, as Voinian, you can't get the Marines, which make capturing even easier.
Aside from that, the reason no one is mentioning the Voinian Cruiser is that it's slow beyond hope. With a UE Cruiser, you can get some upgrades and at least fly within the speed range of medium ships, whereas anything more maneuverable than a turtle stuck in molasses will fly circles around you. The Voinian Cruiser basically sucks, ergoe we aren't mentioning it.

Anyway, for my latest pilot, I decided to break with my previous tradition and buy the Penis ship.
Here's my thoughts on it: Some things are much betterthe handling is excellent, much better than the cruiser. The sheilds are 200 higher, while armor is 50 less for a net total of 150 points of coverage higher. The fuel level is great, allowing you to use the Plasma Siphon and or afterburner for much longer periods of time. Finally, the fact that it only takes one day to complete a jump is very cool.
Some things, on the other hand, I miss. First and foremost is capturing ships. I guess I need to get those marines now, cause I miss having escorts... Another thing is the weapons space after selling off everything is a bit lower than the UE Cruiser, and if you work in the UE fighter bay, it has considerably less space to work with.
So.... in the final decision? I like the Igazra much better as far as piloting it goes. After the proper upgrades, it can outrun and outmanouver many ships. However, there are still good reasons to get the UE Cruiser.

I read that little blurb about marines in the version history for 1.0.2 but I've never seen them in the game, how do you buy marines?

I find that Igazras are realy cool, particularly if you give it a layer of dospect armour and that other Vonian sort... oh, yes, Bronev plating. If you give them 5 neutron turrets as well, they are, y'know, pretty cool. (I captured a Vonian Frigate in a shuttle, then an Igazra in that).

UE Cruiser, damn it!
Its got a fighter bay which the Igadzra lacks.....it is somewhat slow, but speed upgrades remedy that for those who like extra speed (like me). Also note that overall it has a lot more weapon space, allowing one to jam a lot more weapons & outfits on there than the Igazra ever could.....and its got a huge fighter base on top of that.....did I mention it has more armor, making it quite survivable in the Crescent? Dospect armor from Paaren Station enhances that even more.
Of course, If you want to dance around with speed and yet have a neato punch, get an Arada and play around with it. I have a really nice variation I like to use...
------------------
I fly (or flew, until I upgraded to the latest version) a Voinian Cruiser, enhanced with Azdgari technology. I know that stock Voinian ships normally suck, but enhanced properly, it can take on anything, even if I just sit there holding the "fire" button. And with Azdgari enhancements, it can get reasonably good shields and movement.
It has (or had)...
Dospect Armor That other armor enhancement (forgot what it's called 4 shield enhancers A shield recharger The experimental Azdgari shield recharger Thrust, RCS, engine, and Azdgari upgrades Swivel phase cannons and phase turrets (I don't like the sound neutron weapons make
Where do you get those armor upgrades? Someone said something about Paaren Station; I sent a shipment their a long time ago, should I go back and check it? I just got a UE Cruiser after beating that Anna Boloshova (whatever her name is) mission. Those fighters are HARD in 1.0.2. Also, is the neutron cannon a Voinian weapon? If so, how do you get it if the Voinians don't like you much...
TIA, Mike

Go back to Earth's bar. There should be more shipments waiting for you.
Also, is the neutron cannon a Voinian weapon?
Yuh

Paaren Station after you finish the Paaren Missions string.
Cool! Thanks.

Izgaza are much better at destroying everything except Vornians. You can kill cresent fighters before there fire even touches you (very handy against renergades :D) UE Cruiser is to slow
Ok, as the person who started this thread I think I should tell you my decision.
I'm now the proud owner of the ÃœberSasquatchamo, an Igazra.
The UE Cruiser is a great ship, big, powerful, fast enough (with the upgrades) and a bitch to kill. Domitated 9 systems in it and also captured 6 Azdgari Warships with it. Quite happy with it.
The Igazra is also a great ship. Fast, powerful, and most definitely cool. I've ditched the phase cannons, and gotten 4 neutron turrets simply cos I really like neutron turrets, even in Crescent space. I'm gonna stick with the Igazra mainly because it goes into hyperspace faster :). The Cruiser and Igazra are equal in power given the right upgrades and you're a skilled pilot.
And hey, I can always buy back my Cruiser. I only have 80 millions credits
Absolutely right. I flew Bolshova's Pushover for a while, and fights became inelegant things in which I was swarmed by more agile enemies. In a UE Cruiser, you can take a lot of punishment... trouble is, you have to take a lot of punishment. Expect frequent landings to effect repairs, and frequent visits back to UE space to replace fighters. (You can't take out the damn fighter bay.)
People say the Cruiser is okay once you buy engine upgrades... try putting those upgrades on an Iggy, and you'll be delighted. EVO becomes /fun/ again, like it used to be when all you had was a scoutship or a transporter. Choose your target, outfox him, dodge his missiles, get on his tail... blow him out of space. Very satisfying.

Hey its your own Choice. Just earlier today I posted a message about guns and there uses and the UE Cruiser vs Twinkie Mobile. It lists both the pros and cons of both ships and all the guns and has information as to which would be better at what. So check it out and decide for yourself. Don't take other peoples words for it.
------------------ I'm the Super that Hired God
I have piloted both in the same game, and I have regretted losing the previuos one both times =). But i have to say, theres nothing quite like having 4 cresent warships and 2 voinin frigs as well as 5 UE fighters, and 3 cresent figheters as an escort!
P.S. Phloppy. Ann arbor RULZ!!
------------------ Eugapae!! Ego adhuc curo Crescent.Repellit voiniem.Non timeo Voiniem
well i like both. Both have plenty of pros + cons.
UE CRUISER Pros: •LOTS of space •Big crew (vs. Igazra) •Comes with UE Fighers (much better against Voinians) •More armor (good in Crescent)
Cons: •Slow/not maneuverable •Big sprite, giving turrets less range and making it easier to hit --- IGAZRA Pros: •Comes with 5 phase turrets which are excellent against all ships •More shields (though a little less armor) •Significantly more maneuverable/speedy
Cons: •No fighters, though some may prefer this •Smaller crew •Less space
I know this is basically a restatement of what everyone's been saying, but I'm saying it anyway.
Myself, I prefer the Igazra, but only by a little. Against the Voinians, it's UE Cruiser, but I prefer to be in the Crescent once I've finished UE/Hinwar/Emalgha/Voinian missions.

I started this thread a while ago.
I did switch over to the Igazra, and I think that pilot is still using it. I just prefer it, due to how incredibly nimble it is. I've got Neutron cannons on it instead of the plasma cannons. They just seem to work better overall than any of the other primary lasers. A picture of my pilot info is at (url="http://"http://sasquatchamo.waferbaby.com/images/misc/igazra.jpg")http://sasquatchamo....misc/igazra.jpg(/url)
Both ships are about equal in power. The Cruiser due to it's ability to hold an absolutely insane arsenal and the Igazra due to it's very respectable offense, plus it's good speed for a capital ship. I really don't care about fighters, I never ever use them when I have them, so they aren't an aid to me. Plus, I have 6 Azdgari Warship escorts, all with fighters, so I'm not worried about my back.
It was the Igazra's speed that made me stick with it for the long run. The fact that I can outrun most ships, catch up with most fighters, etc, that gives me a distinct upperhand in combat. Any good pilot should be able to take out nearly any ship in close combat if they've got a decently zippy ship. If you can run circles around another ship (literally too ), then you should be able to just destroy them no question.
Proof of this is taking out the Dreadnought in close combat. There's nothing as fun in the game as doing that

You can't buy them- They come later on in the Emalgian/Hinwar mission string.

Yeah, I realized this when I did that mission
ps, just to clarify, in your ship extras, the very last item that reads: 'and a .', that shows up after you pick up the marines right? It's the only thing I can think of, and I seem to remember someone suggested that a while ago too.
hmmm I don't think so, Marines count as cargo, not outfits. Sometimes it just does that for some reason.
