UE Cruiser or Igazra?

Finally finished the Igazdra missions. Not real tough, but now I have the choice of my UE Cruiser or a brand new PenisShip, er, Igazra. Which do you guys prefer?

UE cruisers suck, they are too slow, dont jump fast, dont turn well, and are too big (the turrets dont reach as far). The igazra is far better, it is an alien ship (always the better buy), is faster, stronger, and just plain better...the UE cruiser does look better though.

Personally i would get a Crecent Warship, i like em alot more than any other ship. Check out my config on the topic "long live the Crecent Warship", i can assure you, it blows stuf up.

Bah, Igadzras are to damn weak. A UE Cruiser has FAR more weapon/amunition space, has a lot more armor.

PS: Vice Admiral Jon, are you sure you aren't confusing the UE Cruiser with the Carrier? The Carrier does suck, but the Cruiser is very cool.

Confucius say: "Man who stand on toilet, is high on pot."

Cruisers are SWEET!! Carriers, well, they suck, but Cruisers are SWEET!! These are my outfits:

  • 5 phase turrets
  • 4 shield generators
  • Dospect Armor
  • RCS Upgrade
  • Engine Upgrade
  • Thrust Upgrade
  • Azdagari Upgrade
  • ECM System
  • Needle Jammer
  • Sensory Upgrade
  • 3 Pursuit Missile Launchers
  • 100 Pursuit Missiles
  • 5 UE Fighters
  • An expieramental shield regenerator (the one you get from the mission string)

Along with afterburner, 2 fuel tanks, 2 fuel scoops, IFF Decoder, Density Scanner, and NPD, this is a great ship. If you want to fight voinians, Switch to Blaze Cannons (which people trash for no reason), sell 1 Pursuit launcher, sell your Pursuit Missiles until you're down to 56. Buy a Hunter missile launcher with 12 hunters. You can also go with regular rockets if you want. Now you're prepared for voinians! With these upgrades, you got a sweet @$$ ship!

Sheesh!! They both suck...Too slow. I like the Zidara, possibly one of the best all-around ships in the game...along with Arada and Lazira.

Hmm.... The UE Cruiser is tougher w/more armor/space/fighters, but the Igazra handles better, jumps normally, and, for me, is more fun. Face it, when ya get to that point, not much is going to stand in your way anyways, so you might as well go w/the fun ship.

BTW, Everyone DOES agree that voinian ships aren't the greatest (an understatement). HAs anyone ever flown the Voin Cruiser? What's it like to have 6 turrets?

I have never seen a UE Cruiser. Do you need to complete the UE missions to buy one? I did the missions a long time ago and I can't remember.

Get an Igadzra and name it Phloppy, so it's the Phloppy Igadzra.. =P

Go to New Taronto (the planet near new Rome) and you should get a mission to find Anna Balshova.

One thing no one has mentioned is that the UE Cruiser is much, much better for capturing ships. You will never lack for escorts as long as you have one.

On the other hand, U-99 brings up a (somewhat) valid point that at that point in the game, there isn't much left to stand in your way. If you have some missions left to do, especially if vs. the Voinians, I would get the UE Cruiser. Also, there is a certain evil satisfaction in watching your opponents getting plastered to the wall without you ever having to fire a shot... heh heh...

Oh, and as a final note on the Cruiser, if you plan on conquering planets, the extra weapons space allows you to put in at least one more fighter bay, and as such you can use the "Make them run the gauntlet technique."

Jive: the reason we bash blaze weapons is that they are so innacurate and short range. If you want more flexibility, it's much better to get Neutron turrets, even if it means dumping some more secondary weapons for the space.

Yes, lots of poeple have flown it (with OUT cheating), I have, and if you like big, slow, tough, POWERFULL ships, it ROCKS!!! 6 Nuetron turrets and Nuetron cannons well kill just about anything in SECONDS (UE Carrier takes 9 seconds) and they have sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much armor, thats not to say they're invinceable, Hunter Rockets are real pain, 3 UE Destroyers can take you out easy, IF they stay far away, once in turret range they die very quickly.... on a scale of 1-10 i'd rate the V. Cruiser at about 6, good strength and firepower, but to slow for my taste.

As for ships, everyone has their diffrent opinions, but here's one thing i think we can agree on:

UE Cruiser - Most ship for your money, it's got lots more armor, 50 more shields and alot more space than the crescent warship, but it only cost 1.50 million credits more.

as for your descion, if you haven't made one already, get the UE Cruiser if you like warships on the slower end - get the Igazra if you like warships on the faster end.

------------------

You guys keep forgetting that the UE Cruiser doesn't have to be slow. In fact with all the upgrades (azdi, RCS, speed, thrust) plus an afterburner it is alot faster than any Igazra and a lot more manuverable.

I think that the Igazra is the best purely because of the speed, acceleration, and manuverability. With all those respective upgrades, it actually gives the feel of a heavy fighter. Check out this modified Igazra.

2 neutron turrets
2 phase turrets
1 blaze turret
1 plasma siphon
2 Miranu defence systems (These are better that space mines, and not illegal)
20 Miranu defence pods
1 Cresent fighter bay
3 Cresent fighters

4 shield enhancers
1 layer of Dospect armour
1 mass expansion
1 engine upgrade
1 RCS upgrade
1 thrust upgrade
1 afterburner

1 ECM system
1 UE cloaking device
1 density scanner
2 External fuel tanks
1 sensor upgrade
2 fuel scoops
1 IFF decoder

Amazingly, it all fits perfectly with one mass expansion, leaving an ample 25 tons of cargo space for missions.

Sounds fair enough... however, I'd kick out the fighter bay (Crescent fighters are too expensive to replace, considering that they don't do much damage until they're destroyed). Without the bay, you've got ample space for more weapons. Most importantly, decide for one primary weapon type (either neutron or phase, against Voinians and non-Voinians respectively) and use it exclusively (why do you have that blaze turret anyway?). If you want crushing force against capital ships, buy 8 Miranu defence systems and stock up on pods. With that, you can kill just about anything in no time at all... (OK, it might not be optimal against the Dreadnaught, due to its point-blank nature... but apart from that, it rules).

As for the UE Cruiser/Igazra debate... it's hard to decide. I love the Igazra's maneuverability, but the UE Cruiser just has so much more weapon space... and its 100 points of armor, combined with Dospect plating, are just plain awesome in Crescent space... then again, if you use the Triple Agent plug-in, you can combine the Phased Disruption Beam with the Igazra's 10 fuel units... whee! 😄

Dreadnought as well. 8 defense systems take it down in about 10-15 seconds, with only about 25-30% shield loss in an unmodified Igazra.

I have the 2 phase and neutron turrets because they are the best two turrets in the game, and also because I like roaming around the galaxy and I want to be a fairly powerful force in all of it. I threw the blaze turret in because the inaccuracy is actually good when fighting swarms of fighters because I'll end up hitting more than one fighter at a time. I'll try the defence system and see how it goes.

------------------

All of you people keep bragging on the UE Cruiser because it has SO many crew members and it is the best for capturing other ships. Well, IT'S NOT! The Voinian Cruiser has a larger crew by almost two hundred men. Don't quote me but I am almost positive of it. Also, if you capture one and then do the Hinwar missions, you will have two hundred more men on board. So no more saying the UE Cruiser is the best.

That's why I love Blaze Cannons/Turrets. Though they are innacurate, it's great against buzzing little fighters. In fact, the innacuracy is the best part! That's the problem with neutron and phase turrets. Sometimes a fighter can get in a turret blind spot and shoot the crap out of you. I was almost killed by a Krait when I tried to kill it with neutrons. It kept getting in the blind spot and I didn't even touch it. Blaze cannons never do that.
