LoL! You spelled Voinians wrong Lone. Lonevoinian starts making fun of himself, to the amusement of other board members Not sure if that was intended as a joke or just a mistake but it was funny.

The Plasma Siphon can be a very nice weapon, but only if you use it right.
At first, I thought it was a rotten weapon. But then I remembered that it was meant to be an anti-fighter weapon. So I went into battle with some Azdaras, waited for one to get close, then fired my plasma siphon AND my phase turrets at the SAME TIME. When you attack with it like that, you can take out any type of Crescent fighter no problem (I don't recommend it against Voinian fighters however, when you let them get real close you leave yourself open to rocket fire) The trick is to open fire when the fighter is good and close; if its too far away the siphon will push the fighter away before you can completely destroy it. You HAVE to use your turrets with it in order for it to be effective, it just isn't efficient enough by itself.
So basically, its all in the timing. In my personal opinion the Zidagar phased beam is a little better at taking out crescent-type fighters in a breeze, but the phased beamer eats up fuel. The plasma siphon doesn't. Hence, I have to give an ever-so-slight edge to the siphon as far as personal use goes.

Anybody try to kill Matt Burch before in EVO? Just wondering, I only saw him once and decided I'de better stay away.
Yup. I've killed him 5 or 6 times. Along with Andrew Welsh. If its just your own ship versus Burch's its tough, but if you have 2 or 3 strong escorts on your side you can take him out pretty well. I suggest Crescent Warships or UE Cruisers (probably because those are two of my favorites), but several of any warship works.
Samurai.....
A plasma siphon might be pretty good against Voinions.
There's the first part of the joke. As we all know, siphons don't do much damage to armor, and therefore suck against Voinians....... Voinions, however....
But A Voinian would be a lot harder to kill with it.
There's the second part.... you see, now that Voinian is spelled correctly, we all know that THEY are the people who siphons don't do much against.....
P.S. Did I mention I like making fun of people who spell the races names wrong?
And there's the confirmation. Someone above must have misspelled "Voinian" and Lone was making a crack at them for it.
You dig?

I always used the plasma siphon against capital ships. ya just get in really close and use turrets and plasma siphon, and anything goes down hard

Just out of curiosity, Flat, what do you use the tractor beam for? I've never found a use for it myself, but I'm prepared to believe that that's due to my own lack of imagination.
------------------ Question authority. That's an order.
Heh... well, I got the idea from that përs Igazra that uses a tractor beam to hold you in place.....
anyway, what you do is this:
Lock your tractor beam on your opponent (only useful for a big mean guy) Keep it locked on, and then start to fly away. Your opponent will be dragged along with you and will be going the EXACT same speed as you, and thus keeps the same distance from you. When you release the beam, the ship continues to travel at your speed and distance. (a game flaw?). From here, can you guess what you do? FIRE!! FIRE!!!!!!!!!!
That's why I think it's cool. Kinda cool to use on the dreadnaught
Good idea Flaty! I gatta try it

I dig.
Cool idea for the tractor beam, Flat. Sometimes I use the repulsor beam on my Miranu Gunship just for the fun of bouncing stupid Crescent Fighters away time after time after time after time after time after time after time after time after time after time after time after time after time after time after time after time after time after time after time... oops, sorry, just got carried away. It is actually kinda useful if you're surrounded by a buncha fighters. You use it constantly while firing turrets constantly whil holding down the "r" key to target the nearest hostile ship. Entertaining against a bunch of kraits :D. Hehe...

Alright. The plasma syphon sucks BECAUSE!! Matt burch made it that way BECAUSE!! he felt that way BECAUSE!! he's human BECAUSE!! err...
You're a dumbass, aren't you?

Samurai, that's cool... I never really got the repulser beam working right.... I'll give it a little test-spin soon
Anyway.... I was just thinking.... how cool would it be to get into a tug of war with that përs Igazra? While it locks down a ship, you do the same thing... heh

I am talking about this. In one of your posts, you spelled "Voinian" incorrectly. Then you said you liked making fun of people who spell the names of races wrong. I didn't get it. (I just woke up from math class) Then Flatulence explained to me that it was indeed a joke. And a funny one. Laugh, kids.

the plasma siphon was definately the best weapon in version 1.0.0 but it was made lousy in the future versions. so i made my own plug! the damage/second is the same as in version 1.0.0 but the rate of fire is higher so it consumes more fuel (the reason for this was actually the new graphics i made: it looked better with more fireballs on screen at once). Primarily this is a graphic enhacement, but the plasma siphon is now actually worth not doing agazri missions (i just love fast shield regenerating and the fast fighter).

Thanks for the tractor beam tip, Flat! Could it be that the reason the ship continues at the same speed after you release it has to do with the slow acceleration rates of most large ships? Or does it work with fighters, too? (I'll have to go try this out myself....)
I've only tried it on big ships.... I dunno if it's possible to drag lil'uns in your wake....
They were stating the pros and cons of the plasma syphon. Dont know what else you could want.

sigh... no, they weren't. Saying "it sucks" doesn't count as a "con"...

I was trying this out against a Voinian Cruiser and that tractor beam's ray was too short that the Cruiser kept on firing on me as I dragged it. Am I doing something wrong?
BTW, what do people like to use for missle type weapons? I usually stick to SAD Modules(sp?)
