I finished the Frozen Heart mission where you bring the <really hard name to pronounce> crystals to the museum. I can not seem to pick up the mission string again. I thought that Baxter said to meet him on Devore but he was not there. Where do I pick up the string.

What was the last Baxter or Emile related mission you did? The Yggdrassil missions are not on the main string, so you can complete them concurrently with various other parts of the story.

I think it was the mission bring evidense to earth, expect conclusion. I aborted it becouse it didnt go away after I finilhed it.

I'm speaking for Martin Turner here, but the docs say that you shouldn't abort a mission if it doesn't go away from your computer. I don't know what you should do now; Martin Turner would know :D.

This is completely correct.
To pick up the thread, go back to New Venus and get the thread from there.
Just to explain why this is, Frozen Heart has concurrent missions -- that is, you can do different strings in different orders. At a particular moment, however, the strings come together and you can't proceed until you've completed all the strings up to that point.
This is why it's possible to do the Yggdrassil missions before or after you get the Tachyonic fighter.
