I'm making a new plug called Red Coroco, and i needed input on the idea for it. I wanted to allow prominent players on the board to apply to construct their own nations in the plug and every time borders would change, etc., i would post an update on the data file (probably a flimsy 50k patch). It would essentially add a multiplayer capability to EVO.
Please post your opinions! (and maybe some pre-plug applications for nations?)

You post alot.

Just tonight while i've been waiting for troubleshooting responses and input on Red Coroco...not all the time.
C'mon, i need some advice on this idea! Help me out here.
I stink at doing plug-ins. I can't help you sorry. :frown:
hate to burst your bubble, but your idea is ridiculous

Thanks, of course since i asked i respect all criticism. It would however help if you could tell what specifically might be a problem.
Well, it'd be too disorganised and stuff.
There's something REMARKABLY simmilar called an "Online RPG"
Check it out, you might like it.
Thanks OctoberFost...your posts have been very helpful.
I still intend to at least try my plug, but i will take into account what you've said.

Multiplayer with a plug? Heh, you kiddies need to REALLY get over the idea of multiplayer. Your definition for multiplayer seems out of place also...

I know...as i was posting that i realized it wasn't the right word but i couldn't think of a better one. All i wanted to do was test out a mildly user interactive plug that's story would change not only by the actions of one player, but many.
"...prominent players on the board..." Just plain sucking up.

I'm just posting this one to bring it to the top of the list, and to remind people i still need some good comments and input on this idea. Remember, think of the things you always wished were different in EVO.
I want at least 1 powerful UE ship. I've been getting bored. Nothing can compare with my ship.

Hey, Kwansar, you probably already know this, but Tycho and Sebek (apologies if I got the names wrong) are trying to create a multiplayer EVO as we speak! I know it's seemingly impossible, but you never know. Read up on the EV Developer's Corner
Anyway, the plug idea might be cool! Or it might suck. Dunno.

Actually, i brought the multiplayer thing up (not that anyone else might not have thought of it). I'm gonna port this post over to the dev corner and see if i can exchange ideas from the people you mentioned. Thanks!

What tyco and sebek are doing is quite different, they're doing a ultiplayer over the net where you can fight each, it wouldn't be a plug.

Yeah, i was just over looking at the page for that "EVArena". What i don't get is if it's just fighting or fully-featured. And to clear everything up, the update i was talking about is the ONLY way that it would be interactive. I'm not one of those wackos trying to add multiplayer to EV. (No offense to EVArena, which i highly respect)

It really is. The engine won't be able to handle ALL the things that I think you have in mind. You'll have to limit the game to about 8-12 people. Even then, it would be hard to manage. Too many things to keep track of. The game does have a cap on almost everything players would want to add (gov'ts, ships, weaps, outfs, etc, etc). Stick to traditional plugs (Like my EV:O expansion pack: Strands of Time , which is currently in development. I do intend to push the limits of the game, though. I'm adding a new galaxy , not including the original one!)

I second (or.. ummmm... third and fourth) what people have been saying. You're expecting that you can do WAYYYY too much with mere plug programming. You'd have to program a whole new freakin' game..... We should all really stop coming up with ideas on how to make "multiplayer" EVO happen, and wait until Andrew blesses us with that gift from heaven.
