By now everybody knows of "Reign of the Voinians," :frown: the plug-in where the Voinians conquer Earth and "Reign II: Shades of Evil" :frown: :frown: where they conquer everything else. So my question is, why no equivalent plug-in for the UE? Why to Voinian lovers get to enslave us humans while we UE fans cannot bring freedom and democracy to our wetern enemies after climactic battle over Voinia? Has anybody ever thought of this type of plug-in? I've sort of started on one, but I don't think it'll be out anytime soon as I am in college. And another thing: for a total conquest plug, what kind of missions should I have. I know a lot of battles will be involved, but I think just epic battle after epic battle after epic battle would just get redundant. A nice variety of missons would be good, but what?

You should have a good balance of mission distributed at appropriate part along the path of the player. For example, don't have any 'Fight of Pirate Fleet' when the player is still in a scoutship, the mission will be almost impossible to do and the player will just get annoyed and end up changing the mission in ResEdit. Start out with courier and delivery missions, giving an average ammount of money, so the player can afford a decent ship fairly early on. Don't have a ton of 5,000 credit missions that are all exactly the same. Have a few rush deliveries and about three urgent deliveries plus around ten cargo missions. Have these missions repear all throughout the game (with different destinations of course).
I would also have about three missions strings similar to Frontier Express strings and the starbound shipping ones, so the player feels as though he's actually developing his character with the surrounding galaxy, instead of just character-less cargo missions. Once the player would presumably have enough for a decent ship, inject some Escort Missions, so the player can get a taste of combat. Then it's up to your plot really. Don't forget to have more cargo missions appear though, so the trader-players don't get board.
As for 'Reign of UE', sounds like a good idea. my advice is to create this plug first, before going on to make a TC. A total conversion requires at least three people as wellof months of hard work, a person new to plug develping can get disheartened.
Just my opinion though.

The reason there is no "Reign of the UE is because no-one has made a plug-in called that yet.

that's exactly why there isn't a ROTE, the game is biased to the UE side, so it made more sense making a plug for Voinians

I think the original point of this post maintains that whereas the plain game is "biased" towards the UE and follows their story line, you don't really get to kick much ass as a UE sympathiser. This is why there is a need felt for a plug wherein the UE actually does something more interesting than monty-python a Dreadnought and free some slaves.

the reason noone made a ROTE plug is that the UE suck, and should definetely lose to the superior race, the Azdgari, oh, and the Voinians(see? i spelled it right! isnt that amazing, its so hard to spell, i just get confused allll the time)

Of course, I knew it! Someone EVENTUALLY was going to say "Well, the reason why they don;t make a Reign of UE plug is because the UE totally stinks!" :frown: Well, could you please not make such comments. If you don't like the UE, don't play it. The reason why I asked why there is no "Reign of UE" is because: 1) L like the UE and 2) I think it get short shrift in plug ins. Look at it: Reign of the Voinians (I and II)- the Voinians complete the UE-Voinian War. Seccession- the Huron war for independance expands (I don't know- I haven't played it, or have a played ROTV I or II) The two UE plug-ins I know of- UpforUE and UE Ship and Outfit Expander- give you nothing but a few new ships and maybe a few new systems. Nothing new on the UE-Voinian front. Well, I want something new! I want the UE to take the offensive and drive back the Voinians back to there home planet and then crush them there! I want a plug-in where by the end all the former Voinian worlds, Voinia included, all have "UE" as their government. So zhouj, I say to you, for the Reign of UE plugin, GO FOR IT! I'll continue (if I can) trying to make my plugin, but please, don't stop making yours if I get done w/mine first! There can be more than one Reign of UE plugin in the universe! I just have two suggestions for you: Voinian dissidents and UE Dreadnought. Long live the UE!
