What do you think is the best way to get started on a new pilot file? Do you go for the scoutship early, or hire freighter escorts and make a name for yourself as a trader? If you're a trader, what are your favorite trade routes? Or maybe head for Miranu space? Just curious.Personally, I tend to hire freighters and trade in the UE core worlds. What is your favorite way to start off?
------------------
If you know the way, you can add two fuel tanks to your shuttle, and you've just got enough range to make your way from Saalia to the edge of Miranu space. That's a pretty easy hundred thousand for starters... though most folk will already have a scoutship before they go that far from home.
------------------ "Hey look Gavin... All this typing, and I didn't need to swear once..."
I suggest when you have enough money, buy a scoutship and get a little higher status as a trader. Then go to Mira and go to the bar. Get friendly with the Miranu, then buy a miranu courier, which actually, for a third ship, kicks butt. You can easily go to the Chorca system and start killing kraits. From the Miranu courier, you should probably get the UE missions. Once you have a UE destroyer, then go with one of the Strands, and take their missions. That's pretty much a good way to start off. Also, you might want to join Stellar Corp and Frontier Exp in the Mestor system (I think it's there). You might want to buy a freight courier also, somewhere during your career.

About missions: Isn't this a new version of EVO? My most recent CD was 1.0.1, I think. What's the difference? New missions? Do you have to finish more tasks in order to "beat" the game?
----------------------- I just registered, didn't I?
You don't even need the extra fuel tanks if you know where to go. From Outpost Theta, it's only four jumps to Station Pybin. Oh, and nice sig, Lord G. Good old Calvin and Hobbes. I start off doing UE shipping and Stellar corp. missions till' I've got about 300k. then i hire some Freighter escorts, and start trading Med supllies from New Riga to Telnan. I hire more escorts once I've got the cash. Works like a charm...

The marine outfit is popular only because it adds 200 men to your ship's crew.

You get the marine gear from the D'Erlon mission (Take Marines to the Voinian Outpost), which is in 1.0.1, you just don't get the gear in the older version. The only new mission I know of is the "pay fine" mission.
Can you buy the Marines?Do they travel to a new ship with you? What is the "pay fine" mission?

No, you can't buy the marines. That outfit comes after completing the "Free the Hinwar" missions. I think, like the forklift, they stay on all of your ships, but I'm not quite sure.

If you buy space mines, which are illegal in UE space, and they catch you with them, you will be forced to pay a fine, or be banished at all United Earth spaceports.

So if I buy a weapon it can make the UEs hate me? I think i'll go upgrade to 1.0.2 now.
BTW, I just found a smile of what should happen to bill gates: . Funny, ain't it?
PEACE YA'LL!

Yeah, you can get the space mines at any renegade planet/station. If you already have a bad legal status w/ the UE, which a Voinian like yourself would probably already have, it doesn't really matter, because they won't let you land there anyway.
1 more question: Do space mines make the voinians like you since the UEs hate you?
I don't think space mines make the Voinians like you. I don't have any real reason for thinking this, because when I did the "pay fine" mission I did pay the fine. But for some inate reason, I don't think that it will improve your record with the Viks.
Incidentally, how do you make some of those new smilies? They look cool.
Do you want me to e-mail the web adress to you so only you know?
