I have been thinking about the strands and the strand recruitment missions. I have heard some talk before that you could actually play for two of the strands at the same time. Most people on this board would disagree with this statement. However the important point is that you can not work for a strand after you have begun another strands mission string. What if you had accepted the recruitment mission from a strand and before completing it could you accept another recruitment mission in that time. I this was you could begin two differnt mission strings. If what I have previously written is actually true then you could possibly work for all or at least two of the strands. I believe thatt there is not a time limit on the zidagar recruit. mission on Pozdag 3. S I would pick it first. Then using a mir. courier with fuel upgrades go and accept the Igadzra recruit mission on kitrak I believe. The sail to the south tip and get the azdgari recruit mission. Now I order for this to work you may need to be able to short cut through the Ji nebula to save time. This means it needs to have already have been explored. After you accept the Azdgari recruit mission finish it by landing in racet I believe. Next finish the Igadzra re. mission string by going to their homeworld. Hopefully you will still have time. Then go and finish the Zidagar recruit mission at your lesure. I think this will work. I am not sure because I am separated from my mac for about another 10 weeks or more. So I am asking anyone who thinks this is possible to please give it a try and post back here with you results. If it works it means all the upgrades and all the central objectives provided you work for the Voinians first.

Good luck

Sorry about the above misspellings. It is late. Also, I know about the triple agent plug however I do not want to use it because it feels like I am cheating. What I am suggesting requires no plugs.
Remember, the Azz and Igg are timed... The Zid is not...

you cant do three, because as Alien said, Iggie and Aggie rec. missions are timed, so you cant do both, so I would side with the Aggie and Ziddie, seeing as I am a mortal enemy of the Iggies(they were the first race to be conquered, followed by the humans)

I know that the Igadzra and azdgari are timed but I believe that using the method I said above that you may still be able to get both acomplished under the time limit. The Igadzra time limit is much more lenient than the Azdgari. This is why I explained it the way I did earlier in the first post. The main question is can you get the Igadzra re. mission (kitrak) get to south tip finish the azdgari re mission and still have time to make it to Igadzra?
The answer to this is in another topic I saw a while ago, now where is it........

Celtic Starbase I did a search of past topics before I posted. I just have come up empty on an answer. And I do not have the means at the moment to explore my ideas at least for another 10 weeks.
Not sure about the time limits and stuff but there's another problem (maybe).
The way they restrict you from playing for the other sides is by setting a mission bit after you complete the recruitment mission. This both allows you to get the next mission and prevents you from starting the other strands. I might be wrong, but I would think that they would check that bit in the other missions. In other words, if you did all three recruitment missions, then you might not be able to play any of the Strands!
I could be wrong though. Someone open it up in ResEdit or Resourcerer or whatever and find out. I would but I don't have access.

I think yoiu're right, too...
------------------ Visit my EVO web site (currently under construction) and tell me how it looks (via the poll at the bottom of the page or the guestbook)! It's at (url="http://"http://www.geocities.com/evosite")http://www.geocities.com/evosite(/url) !
I can't think of anything else to write...
I used EVO 1.0.2 for this; I think this would also work with 1.0.1. However I've heard reports that it doesn't work with 1.0.0. The trick is to accept the mission for one strand, but before you finish it, accept the mission for another strand. The mission bit doesn't get set until you complete the recruitment mission for one strand.
From my experiments, the following is true: - You can do the Igadzra and the Zidagar (pretty easily) - You can do the Igadzra and the Azdgari (not so easily) - You can't do the Zidagar and the Azdgari, (and so you can't do all three).
The reason is the Igadzra give you a lot of time to do their mission. When I tried doing all three, however, I found that though the Zidagar mission looks like an ordinary "defend" mission, it does have a time limit (and not a very long one compared to the other strands). I won't go into how to do the Igadzra and Zidagar, because the systems are pretty easy to get to. The Igadzra-Azdgari option is trickier (but more interesting for me personally, 'cause I like the Azzies), so here goes:
What you'll need: - Meet requirements for joining a Strand (Noteworthy combat rating, they don't hate you, etc.). - A ship that has a 1-day jump. If you're not cheating, that means mass 1-99. If your escorts slow you down, dump them. - A ship that can hold off renegade fighters and stay ahead of Zidagar fighters (i.e. a fast, moderately strong ship). - At least one fuel scoop.
Nice, but not essential: - A ship that can do lots of jumps, and max fuel tanks/fuel scoops. - A good map of southern crescent space.
What to do: - Go to Kitrak. Accept the Igadzra mission, chuckling evilly to yourself the whole time. - Go straight to South Tip Station. Do not pass Go, do not land to refuel (this is why you need that fuel scoop). Take the shortest route possible. Keep away from the fighters the Zidagar send; only engage renegade fighers if they get too close while you're scooping fuel. Tip: if you find a quiet system near the start of southern renegade space where the Ziddies don't bother you too much, build up enough fuel for a few quick jumps across to Strandless space. - Accept the Azdgari mission, chuckling evilly to yourself the whole time. - Go straight to Igadzra. Do not pass Go, do not land to refuel. By the time you get there and complete the mission, the Igadzra will probably have mowed down the Ziddie fighters. I had about 5 days to spare on the Igadzra mission at the end. - Go to Racet, pick up the cargo from the disabled Arada, and go straight to Outpost Rai to finish the Azdgari mission. I was left with 1 day to spare; your mileage may vary. - I suggest playing the Igadzra side first, get the plasma siphon, then switch to the Azdgari and their neat toys! (Kill renegades to get on the other strand's good side).
That's about it. Post your experiences playing both sides, this is interesting.
Thanks Kermit that was exactly what my question was. As soon as I get a chance I am going to try it. By the way were you able to complete both central objectives. If so this would mean that 4 could be completed without a problem. That is one more than normal. Also how many times did you try all three together. Just wondering.

I've completed the Igadzra and Adgari strings (got the "You've completed a central objective" text). It seems only the recruitment missions check if you're already working for another strand; the later missions just check if you've done the recruitment mission. So, yes, you should be able to do 4 central objectives (I still need to complete the nebula missions with the pilot I tested this with, but obviously that shouldn't be a problem). Note I did the Igadzra one first... I don't think it changes any systems. The Azdgari (and IIRC, the Zidagar) do change some; that could cause problems later if you do them first, haven't checked.
I only tried all three twice; first I tried picking up I, then Z then A, but realized (counting systems) that I wasn't going to be able to complete the Igadzra mission. Then I tried Z then I then A, but when the Zidagar mission ran out on me halfway to Akrayhek, I fired up ResEdit and discovered it is timed. I haven't tried playing Igadzra-Zidagar missions, mostly because I don't like the Zidara (can't sell those silly outfits), but they should work as well.
I wonder how many mission strings it's possible to play concurrently and complete... play the Voinians and UE/Elmagha against each other, maybe also work for the renegades at the same time, plus being a double agent for the strands... mayhem!

well shayborg, your wrong, too bad. I sided with all three of the warring fools, human renegades, Voinians, and the stupid, pitiful, but rich a$$ UE.
You know, strictly speaking, Oedipus didn't have an Oedips Complex. He didn't know that the person who he was in love with was his mother.
More fun in the wacky world of Sigmund Freud.
No relevance to EV:O of course. Sorry.
