I have a PC with internet connections and a mac upstairs with none. I am therefore forced to take files I download from the PC onto a floppy and put that into the mac. However this doesn't work. I have heard that the PC chops off resource forks or something like that. If anyone has ideas about how to fix this, no stupid suggestions like getting internet access, please help out.

Don't unstuff the files on your PC, keep them in hqx or bin format.

Do not decompress/unstuff the file on the PC - unstuff it on the Mac. If you unstuff it on said PC, the resource fork does indeed get deleted.
If that doesn't solve your problem... there's not much I can do for you.

No jack. About not unstuffing the files, what do you mean? Most plugs are downloaded straight into their final stage. No unstuffing needed.

That's your problem right there. You should be getting compressed files - for example, plugin.sit , plugin.sit.bin, or plugin.sit.hqx (or perhaps other forms of compression). These files have to be unstuffed using the program StuffIt Expander to get the plugin itself.

Okay, at risk of sounding ignorant, I'll repeat. If the plug is downloaded straight to the decompressed version, how can I not unstuff it? Is there some way I can download it stuffed?
Most of the time, when I download plugs, they're compressed. I'm pretty sure they're always compressed when you d/l them from the Ambrosia addons page, I think.

I can't think of anything else to write...
They are stuffed when you download them and are AUTOMATICLY UNSTUFFED when they finish downloading them. There should still be a file that isn't unstuffed on the desktop however. And how the heck can you download them on a PC? I have a PC and it won't even START downloading mac files.
