One big BFG

Who here is familiar with BattleFleet Gothic? I think a TC in the Games-Workshop WH40K universe would be tres cool. I would LOVE cruising around in an Emporer or Retribution class battlecruiser. All it would take is some good 3d modelling!

So, what do you Kwazy peeples think? Free forum for ideas, you know

😄
Actually I play as dark eldar, but this is an EVO forum 🙂

It would be cool to see those things cruising around, hull brimming with huge
cannons,....sigh

Um...BattleFleet Gothic, BFG, Warhammer 40000 and Games Workshop are copyright Games Workshop 2000, I guess... 🙂

I used to collect GW stuff. I had a High Elf army (4000 points) in Warhammer as well as a Norse army (1500pt) that customized myself. I usually played as the Norse as they were cool. In 40k I was always the Space Wolves, they looked pretty cool. I stopped collecting about six years ago when I realised it was WAY too geeky and a WAY too expensive. Now I spend my money on cool stuff like beer, hip-hop, clothes and dope. 🙂

YES.

Dammit, where've you been for the last few months? Nobody on this board has had any seriously good ideas since then, and you come along and have two of mine within your first few days.

That would absolutely kick ass.

Except for the copywright issues, and the fact that I'm tied up at the moment in another plugin. But perhaps its something you could contact me about once Dark Horizons is finished. We'll make it the first GW CR Plugin for EV3, how about that?

Modelling wouldn't be too difficult, as the designs are already created. It would just be like doing still-life. Easy for any artist...

Thanks for the feedback! I was hoping...erm.. I forgot what I was going to say, but I am glad that someone noticed a newbie like me 🙂

Very funny, now beam down my clothes. These ladies look rest-less..... uh-oh...

Alien's famous tongue...
"Vionions?? Voinioniommoins?? Viks? Veggies? Vegetables? Oh wait, that's a hewman plant...

No, you wouldn't.

But the guy has had what (when I had it a while back) seems like an amazingly good idea. Until you look at the practicle side.

GW talk about a "real" universe. The Menazoid Clasp, for example, would have to be around fifty systems, but it's only a tiny little bit of the whole.

I don't think it could be done... but perhaps if you concentrated on the Gothic Sector...

And BTW, I'm a Dark Eldar player too...

Yes! I'm fully in favour of the idea.

Not that I think WH40K is a particularly good game universe. It's rather lukewarm in fact. (Original Rogue Trader, what 40K is based on is better.)

However, I approve of anything which rips off Games Workshop. They've been re-releasing the same old crap for almost twenty years now, Each time with more unworkable, more frustrating rules. Talisman, Warhammer, 40K, Blood Bowl... all got worse each time they were dumbed down and re-released.

If you like something that GW have done, take it and use it - hell, we've all paid for it already. Its the role-playing game business. You're meant to experiment, adapt, and share ideas and games with friends. At least, that was the theme back in the good old days before GW got too greedy, and started charging Ł7 for two 25mm figures.

Why bother modelling ships in Mechanisto - simply photograph any painted ones you have (preferably with a digital camera, since 36 shots of each are required), and generate the appropriate spin resources. Illuminate the models with a table lamp, and use a blue filter.

I'd do it for ya... but I think GW ships look like shiite, so I never bought any.

Cool...

I don't have a digital camera, though (I just got Mechanistro, however).
And, yes, I would have concentrated solly (sp?) on the Gothic Sector.

Why does GW stuff have to be so freaking expensive!!!
I really like modeling as a hobby, too :frown:

That is, putting together models... 🙂

By the way, I already started working on my other plugin (entirely alien
based) having got mechanistro, lack of good 3d modeling is what
has been holding me back all this time. If anyone wants to see my ship...
uh, it takes 3 days to render them, and I got it 2 days ago...
I will put my plugin alpha up on the thingie.

Say it. You know you want to...Thingie...

Go for it, S'pht! You might find the digital camera can't focus on something as small as a BFG model in close-up... unless your camera can take a macro lens, or extension tubes. It would be interesting to compare results with model & photo technique against those achieved with rendering though. Maybe using Jive's Lego models? Go for it Jive!

"Hey look Gavin... All this typing, and I didn't need to swear once..." 🙂

What exactly is Warhammer 40K and what could it have to do with EVO? Warhammer's that "game" with the little soldiers lookin' like they're out of Tolkien or something, right? How do you play that?
