Well there is a nice piece of free armor, Elven plate mail (60) armor, up north, but you then have to kill 2 Deathknights hehe
There is a tunnel just 1 east of the learning tree, thats the closest tunnel, and there is a good potion place in Fantrima., but if you have the tunnel to Berglum, then that would be the closer.

theres a tunnel near gwyden camp, and i believe i was using; armor:elven full plate (and yes it took me a lot of time to get all that money) head:crown of stone (i bought necklace of stone as soon as i got to berglum with all the loot id gotten from the cave) hand/arm:elven gauntlets belt:belt of stone feet:elven boots Sheild:none weapon:elven longbow (2 handed)
upgrade ur head dress and ur gloves, and you should either get a double handed weapon because they uually do more damage or u should upgrade ur sheild. Or if you really want a good weapon go north a couple screens of gwyden camp and then once uve gona as far as possible, head west one or two screens untill you find a dwarf. Talk to him and make all the rude replies, and eventually ull fight (i suggest lots of healing potions cuz hes a bit harder than the death knights). After u beat him he'll give u the dwarven runic sword. IT is in my opinion the best weapon in the game (yes it is better than the battle axe misery) although some could argue that the WAR axe misery is better cuz it does more damage, but the unstated fact is that the runic sword is one handed enabling you to carry a sheild, and the axe is 2 handed (but it does do 5 more damage and it gives you +5 dex. instead of +3 dex. and it give u +1 speed). However you cant get it, the WAR axe misery, (dont confuse it with the Battle axe misery) in this stage of the game.

I think I'll wait until my health is a bit over 91... You see, I'm weak!

I have all of those tunnels, but I can't try it out right now because I only have a rev. A iMac with 96MB RAM and I can't have Netscape and Pillars of Garenall running at the same time!
- P.P.
I'm gonna go play PoG now before my bedtime, (I'm seven and living in England... it's 8:30 PM here and I've got school tomorrow so I have to be in bed at nine!) I'd really like suggestions on how I should upgrade my weaponary and defence, I'm wondering if I should buy a 'Tower Shield' of better armo u r...
P.S. Thanks for all the advice, I think I'll make a movie of me battling the deathnight -- should I hold my shield up or just hit him with all I've got? His deathsword (<- is that the right word?) can hit through my shield... Hmm... Back to the Tower shield option again...

If I played anothe 10 years I may be able to afford the first thing on your list... another five for the second... :frown:

What cave? And how are the Necklace of Stone and the Crown of Stone connected?
(This message has been edited by Proxima Presly (edited 11-25-2001).)
the neckless and the crown are both head dresses. if ur wearing one you cant wear the other.
the cave that the general is in.
like Arcangel said, u could get the elven full plate for free, but ud have to kill TWO death knights
the sheild of stone is ur best bet. if you wanna know a little trick, put ur middle finger on the z key (it makes ur character hold up ur sheild) and ur index finger on the x key (it lets u attack, talk, and open treasure piles/chests/holes. Hold the z key down while presing the x key repeatedly. This makes it so that whenever ur not striking ur defending increasing ur chances of blocking his attack.
You should go 1 screen north of the bridge kill a few ogres <big axe guys> get one of of their axes, then go to the gwyden camp entrance then go north screens untill you see ruins you might have to go 1 east then go 1 west 1 north 1 west 1 north and talk to the dwarf say no then say its hard to beat driviatn weapons accept his challenge hold A and when he attacks when he is idle still hold a and then press x. Repeat you will get a strong weapon from him.
------------------ Power of The schwartz --Islander
the elven long bow is also good cuz you can stay far way from him while you peck at him from a distance, then run away from him when he gets too close (but whatever you do, dont go outta the screen)

If you havent noticed, although the Ogre axe said it does 10-40, because of a bug, it realy does 12-25. And your little path realy makes no sence, I would be on the other side of the river. Its 1east 3 north from the gwyden camp entrance. but ya, thats the strongest one handed weapon. and if your wondering where the free armor (US spelling) so no more bold u eh? its just 1 east of that dwarf in a cave in the side of the hill, be sure to save before going after it, because its sometimes not there, but it usualy is. I think you have to kill both deadknights then open the chests to get it..
i wish i had learned about this sooner i wouldnt have wasted that whole week savin up 4 the elven full plate. No matter i have it anyway, but it coulda saved me some precious time. Oh well......
I just tried to get to Gidolan Keep (SP?) but I can't because of all those massive ogres and the blue dog - like thingy. I got to the city walls, but there's always about six ogres and about two blue dog things stopping me! Is there a way to get around them or something? I can kill the ogres made of rock... and the +400 XP is useful... IS there any way to get into Gidolan Keep without getting... caught up... with those ogres?
P.S. I've gotta go to school now! :frown:

Hi AAC,
I believe it is always there, but what I have found is that often after you open the treasure chest the armor is in, it ends up being really close to the wall behind the chest. If you walk back and forth between the wall and the chest, you can always pick it up. I have played through the game easily 40 times (probably more) and the armor has always been there. (Yeah, I know, I'm addicted to this game it seems, can't wait until trinity and other plug-ins are available. :))
Proxima presly: As for the dwarf and the runic sword, don't let us scare you off from going after it. Here is how I am always equiped when I get it off him: Leather Cap Leather gloves belt leather boots wooden shield Drivatan battle axe HP is always between 50 and 62HP I carry at least 20 of the 80 point potions.
Everytime he hits and does damage, I drink a potion. (Even if the damage is only slight I still take the potion because I have noticed he will often hit and do damage again right away.) You may end up dieing a couple of times, but it is very doable even if all you have are the outfits I described above. Also, another key factor seems to be that when you start to fight, if you hit and do damage right away, your chances of beating him seem to be alot better. If you haven't done damage after four hits, it seems that you are less likely to be able to beat him without sucking down a heck of a lot of potions.
Also, if you can afford any kind of armor, even a robe or cloak, it will help out somewhat it seems.
Goodluck with the game, glad you are enjoying it.

LOL. I don't (OK I didn't ) know there was nothing there... I couldn't get there! If there is nothing there, why is it marked as a 'major city' on my Kingdom Map?
I knew that 'armor' was U.S. spelling, but it really puts me off when I see it!

Ok. What would you recommend upgrading my head dress to? I will buy lots of potions this time, I usually have a large supply of cheese with me, anyway, but I didn't know about the Deathknight... I thought I just had to find the General -- not battle him as well! Also, I saved my game in the cave without any potions and I accidentally replaced my other games!  In Berglum the military commander keeps telling me to leave the town, then if I ask to go back in and say 'I'll be a good boy now' he says, 'well you be a good boy and go and play with the butterflies now.'. What should I do? I can't tell him about the attack and that stuff... :frown:

You need to get the general from the swamp first, (you save him when killing the deathknight), then talk to the general again in camp near the barricade and he will then have you talk to the town commanders on his behalf.

I have rescued the Genreal from the swamps! That's what I don't get! Why won't he talk to me? He keeps calling me a troublemaker, if that's any use...
Anyway, I've been hunting for Kalixa and I've found the 'cave with two exits' but I can't get through it because of all those red dragon - monsters. Any tips?

- P.P.**
Did you talk to him again at camp? if so, are you selecting the right things to say to the commander at town?
You dont have to fight the manticores, just run. if you dont make it, try it again. Your chance of living changes every time the monsters take a new position.

What'dya mean? I don't say anything... I just walk up to him and he says 'You again, I told you to leave!' or something like that and I get taken out of the villag... :frown:
