septimbris wants me to rescue a life - but where can i do this?

If you mean the first quest from him, you just gotta rescue this kid.. Manko, I think... he's one west from Fantrima. When you go into the screen you hear him screaming for help, and he's near the centre, near some ruins. He's only guarded by a few goblins, so it's really quite an easy quest, if you know where to look...

First you need the mission to save the kid, back in town, just above the potion seller, there is a women there hoping up and down, talk to her and she says her kid is missing, now go look 1 screen west in the forest.

Personally, I loved that quest. It's not that hard, but you get a fair ammount of experience and treasure.
