The Disco Bison is NOT hard to beat. I just killed him in a UE Cruiser with a Voinian Cruiser escort in a head on attack. My shields had just gone down when I killed him, I didn't have a chance to board him with the Voinian Cruiser going psycho shooting rockets everywhere. The only thing that he seemed to be shooting at me were SAEs; I didn't see any evidence of the "Disco Machine Gun" and I never have when I've fought him. I didn't attack him this time, though, he was waiting for me in an uninhabited system and he attacked me outright. I'm wondering, if you board him and capture his ship, do you get his advanced shielding, or do you just get an ordinary Emalgha warship?

Um, you are lucky... that's the weapon that can take down a shield of value 32767 very quickly... It makes a weird 'bang bang' noise, and is usually accompanied by large values disappearing off your shield indicator. However, it is only front firing, so if you stay behind it, you have no problem.
If you want another bash at someone with a DMG, then download a-radar (http://jonsevo.cjb.n...lugs/aradar.hqx) and the S.S. Mithril is armed with one (or two)

Hmmm, I play with the sound turned off so maybe I just didn't hear the Machine gun. I stayed right in front of him the whole time (the UE Cruiser isn't fast enough to cicle him) and beat him pretty easily, though.
Has anyone encountered a souped up Miranu Heavy Freighter (the big blue ship) called the Blue Danube? I decided to attack it and it retailiated with a swarm of nuetron blasts and voinian interceptors. I eventually killed it after a ten minute battle whith my Cresent Warship escorts backing me up. I've been playing this game for 3 years and have only encountered it twice. It's a mean sucker!!

umm... since we're on the topic of things that are hard to kill, one time i encountered an azdara (i cant remember the name of it) and since i was workin for the zidagar i decided to kill it. man was that a big mistake. the things shields recharged faster (well, damn close to) than i could shoot it. anybody know its name?
I remember that little sucker. He took out 3 Igadzra Aradas, and 2 Igazras. Then he took on me and killed me. I finally got, in my own Azdara, with 6 Igadzra escorts. He had 24 phase cannons firing on him, and it still took me at least a minute to get him. It was a different pilot though, so hes not on my kill list.

Yeah, I hate to tell you guys who are claiming to have killed the Disco Bison head on with minimal or no escort support....... BUT YOU DIDN'T. He is one tough bugger. The fact that you have a "souped up" UE Cruiser really means nothing. Unless you have 600 shields enhancers AND generators (sp?) you'd get nowhere CLOSE to beating him. Now run along.
I'm wondering if anyone's run across an Igazra equipped with the Igadzra beam (the green thing) and a tractor beam? My friend said that this I.S.S. so-and-so got a tractor beam on him and then zapped him to death with the Igadzra beam.... I don't know the validity of his story, I've never run across this vessel, but I'm wondering if anyone else has?

Umm... I'm not lying. I beat the Disco Bison in a UE Cruiser in a head to head (no Monty Python) attack with one Voinian Cruiser escort. I had just lost my shields when his ship exploded. And I didn't cheat at all. I don't have to prove my honesty to you, though, so if you don't believe me, fine, just don't accuse me of lying.

Just look at the post a little above mine... it said that a UE cruiser with escorts lasted only a few seconds against DB.... and I lost to DB in a modified Igazra (more shielding than ue cruiser)
Listen, your game obvisously has a bug in it, because there is no hellish way that you can beat the DB in a toe-to-toe fight. I got really lucky, and I didn't take him TTT. I circled him. I took him on again in my UE Cruiser, fully upgraded, and lost again.
