Okay everyone, I've seen a lot of discussions about whether or not the Elmalgha rock. Patton seems very intrested in this little chat.. Anyway, I simply think that people always say the Elmalgha suck because they think the ships are wimpy simply because they see wood hules and have never tried them!! I believe a properly upgraded frieghter can really kick some Vionion ass!!!!

Anyway, back to the topic: Emalgha freighters (and warship conversions)... Oooh yeah, baby! I get an Arada, just thinking about it.

anyway..... no, the Emalgha warship still sucks. Too slow, too little space, too little firepower (only DECENT again voinian)

I'm not impressed by the Emalgha ships. I wish they were cooler so that they might be a worthy thing to fly.
The Freighter to Warship upgrade is cool, but I wouldn't want to be in the kind of ship that can fit it.
The Emalgha cannons are very effective against heavily armored but weakly shielded ships, like Voinians. The turreted version isn't worth beans.

Hm... I had an idea once I never put into play. What if you took a Miranu Heavy Freighter, bought all the possible acceleration and speed upgrades, and then loaded up with Mass Expansions and the Freighter-Warship upgrade? You would definitley be able to hold a fighter bay and a lot of weapons (SAEs and such), but turrets would be limited. I was inches away from actually doing this but then I thought about it and decided that there would be an excess amount of credits spent in the project so I should just buy a different ship. Has anyone actually done this?

I upgraded a Miranu Courier once. I don't remember exactly what I did, but even though I had every possible upgrade, it still sucked ass.
Try this. Get a UE Cruiser. Get every single possible secondary you can fit, with the smallest possible amount of ammo. Have fun sitting in front of the ship you want to kill, and flicking through the secondarys, to find the right one. To kill an Igazra, I start out with Rockets, and Hunter missiles, then Pursuit missiles, then dispy rockets, then space mines.

Oh no no no, NEVER upgrade the frieghter to a warship!! You're much better off just upgrading the frieghter on your own!! And that upgrade only works on eggies ships... too bad, they could really make some money..

Hmmm . . . I haven't done that with a MHF, but I have tried something close to that with a plain Miranu Freighter. Gave it a Freighter-to-Warship upgrade, a few Mass Expansions, and loaded that sucker with all the speed upgrades, Phase Turrets, shield upgrades (maybe armour too, can't remember), and several kinds of secondary weapons. She was expensive, but well worth it.
Left myself enough cargo space to do delivery missions, and started delivering stuff in Renegade-infested space. The old gel held through quite a few Renegade encounters, and took down many a 'Gade ship. Too bad they finally got the best o' me and my ship when I started gettin' full of myself.

no no no, your upgrading it all wrong, heres the upgrade you should do(and ive done it, it works): 1.buy eggie war upgrade 2.max out phase turrets 3.buy armor and shield upgrades 4.buy engine rcs thrust and aggie upgrades 5. buy Azdara bay 6. buy shield generators 7.buy crescent bay
it is the ultimate carrier, if the miranu started producing this, they could dominate all space except the veggies

Whoa!!!! I didn't know the ole eggie upgrade worked on other frieghters!! That is so cool!! The eggies really do have something worthwhile...
I don't have anything aginst the Emalgha, they just need some better ships and a REAL turrent. I'll proably include that in my EVO Enhancer plug-in. That will hopefully be out within a month.
And i'm amazed that Patton hasn't posted a reply yet. He was all over a topic about which STRAND to side with telling everyone to side with the Emalgha, who you automatically side with if you side aginst the Voinians anyway.

Being the Honored Leader that I am on Emalgha (thats the highest) I believe I can speak for the Emalgha Council of Ministers, the Winston Churchill (my upgraded Emalgha Freighter) today in fact has taken down 2 Vionion Dreadnaughts (with six Emalgha Fighter escorts) You may be asking how, I will tell you, I made a plug in called "The Gladiator" and i can test my Emalgha Freighters strength that way (so I can boast ) But thats not the half of it.
I can see I have zero support from the rest of the Escape Velocity: Override Universe, so am I to assume the rest of you hate the Emalgha? Or do you just think they are poop because their ships are wood?
Now to addresse the issue of weither or not they are slow: No the Emalgha Freighter is NOT slow, I put a Azidigar(sp) upgrade a RCS a Trhust and a engine upgrade, and it has great pickup, along with several heavy shield generators, I am ruling the place, heck I have knocked out a couple of cresent warships (not that hard since with that heavy armor their weapons do no damage)
But then it also depends what you put on the freighter, you need a plasma sipon, I know you are thinking what the heck but hear me out, I believe i may have a the absolute most experience in one of these guys. Then you load up four blaze cannons, and a needle launcher (along with a couple of tanks of gas and some Ram scoops and some jammers, oh yes the jammers) and stock up with 250 needles.
The attack will go as follows, come up behind a Vionion and open fire with your Plasma Siphon and blaze turrets, then pull off BEFORE you are infront of the Vionion, then you come again with Plasma Siphon and blaze turrets do it two or three more times then it should be disabled, with supply ships use needles to disbale from long range (no sense in wasting shields against a courior) and board it to get cash/escorts/cargo......
So don't you guys DARE diss the Emalgha until you actually try one of their ships for a long time, otherwise take my word for it.....

Oh and about the Minaru Heavy Freighter, I have done it, I had 25 mass expansions and a Azidigar bay, a Zidigar Bay, a Cresent bay, a human bay, a krait bay....it kicked butt except when once I got attacked and the ship had nothing but bays on it, I died to say the least
And one final thing I got a plug-in somewhere that I made it adds: ->Emalgha 360 degree turret (as seen in E.H.H.A.) ->Emalgha Carrier (as seen in E.H.H.A.) ->Emalgha Fighter bay (as seen in E.H.H.A.) ->Emalgha Space Station (as seen in E.H.H.A.) ->Emalgha Mines (as seen in E.H.H.A.) ->Illegal Shield Generator (bought at the rock) ->Medium Shield Capacitor (bought throughout the Cresent) ->Heavy Shield Capacitor (bought on Mindaru) ->Armor Sheeting (bought on Knox) ->Human Armor (as seen in EV) ->Human Anti-Armor Laser ->Neuclear Missle ->Kamakazi Vionion (as seen in E.H.H.A.) Plus much more after it is registered......

Hmmmm, that sounds intresting Patton..... And now hunter, they don't need a better turrent in their situation... Eggie to Armor, Phase to shields, Blaze is well balanced and Vionion to whoever can hold it...
I actually just discovered that in EVO 1.0.3, the Eggie Turrent does fire 360°, the Eggie Freighter/warship might just have a blind spot to the back and/or sides. I would like to see them(E. Turrents) have a little longer range or better fire rate, but they do enough damage to Veggie armor that they're pretty good, but only if you're fighting Voinians. I still don't see how the Emalgha Freighter could be better aginst Voinians that a similarlly outfitted UE Destroyer or Cruiser, but i haven't tried it...
I'm afraid that they can't stand against the UE Cruiser, but then again that one doesn't count for it is a special ship. But a properly upgraded Eggie is a force to be dealt with!!
The Emalgha ships are too slow and don't have enough shields. Also, the Emalgha fighter looks real crappy on the screen. However, the other ships are well-drawn but the would need lots of upgrades to be useful.
I could actually see how a slower, smaller ship would be an ideal platform to fire Emalgha turrents off from
