Question: Return to continue domination?

I can proudly say I registered EV: NOVA and downloaded EV:C.
Wondering: in EV:C, can you return and continue the onslaught against a planet's fleet, as in EV:N? Sol is proving difficult to take in a pop. Btw, I used the search function, but to no avail.

Seems to me someone recently mentioned that in EV if you land before the planet is dominated, the mission still completes. But don't quote me on that. Try it. Make a duplicate pilot file and with a back up pilot see if you can land. I always make a back up of my pilot every so often. Prevents me from starting over. Which is about as enjoyable as a poke in the eye.

Good luck. And welcome to the boards.

Forgive me if I'm misunderstanding something, but mission? Landing? I just want to destroy the fleet of ships the planet sends out before you can dominate it. And I'm wondering if you can destroy, for instance, 100 frigates, out of a 1,200 strong defense fleet, hyperjump out, land, then come back and not have to start from 1,200 again.

You're right. I destroyed a fleet once, but landed on the other planet in the system. When I came back, I was still able to dominate without question.

Also, good luck trying to capture any of the Sol planets. There's about 3000 or so ships that will come out (in intervals of 5, if I'm not mistaken). I made the Takeitover Package (located in the add-ons section) that is designed to help take over the planets in Sol.

Edit: I just saw your post.

I'm pretty sure it will take time for the government to rebuild their fleet. The situation that you gave happens, but after a few days, some of the 'Feds will be rebuilt (I'm not sure of the rate).

Thanks guys. No problems.

Depends if you're running the EV:C port to the Nova engine, or the original EV:C application. In the Nova engine the fleet will only regenerate slowly over time, so you can come back and finish off later. If you're using the original engine, then the defense fleet will regenerate as soon as you leave the system or land, I believe.

Fleets don't regenerate at all in Nova. And I don't think they did in EV either. I ain't certain though.
