Panic Key?

What exactly would a Panic Key do, and where might I find one? (certainly not in the manual)

The panic key hides Defcon. It is useful if the boss walks in. Do what nfreader says.

I like to deactivate it since it drives me nuts, but for somebody at work or whatever, I suppose it might make sense.

There's an option to turn the Panic Key off.
