Player Built Satellites?

Is it possible to have player built satellites in a system?

I haven't been able to find any topics about this in the forums.

Lately I've been playing this flash game Flashtrek: http://www.webfossan.com/flashtrek/flashfi...OKENMIRROR.html

The thing I like about it is that you can build satellites in a solar system that aid in defense, build ships, or act as trading stations.

Is there anyway to make a plugin that would let you do something similar in EV, and if so how would you go about it?

If the satellite was a escort ship with zero movement would it still be there after you leave the system?

or, if the satellite was a celestial body, like a planet, how would the player deploy it and would it be destroyable by normal means?

I haven't done anything with EV since the first version, so I'm not sure this is possible. Thanks

You could have an outfit that's called "Build X" and have station X appear in a system that changes when you purchase the outfit. There are weapons that can destroy planets, so you can just make it so that the station is not immune to them.

Nova spobs have never been immune to planet-type weapons. There just aren't any planet-type weapons in the scenario.

It would still manage to follow you around, as paradoxical as that sounds.

You could make an outfit or a mission that made the planet visible through NCBs, but it wouldn’t really belong to the player in any meaningful sense — it would say ‘this is yours!’ in the description, but you wouldn’t be able to name it, control what it did, or anything like that.

You could also give the player a rank upon taking ownership of the station, and have that rank provide some material benefits. You could give the player a salary; or give the player a sizable discount on ships and outfits there. You could also create some missions for the player to do to make new outfits or ships become available at the station.

But yeah, for the most part the ownership would exist in descriptive text and in the player's mind rather than in something really concrete.

And you'd have to set it to "Start out Dominated", a check box in the resource, if I remember correctly.
