What do I put in?
Quote
From the EV Bible: The number of ships in the defense fleet. If you set this number to be above 1000, ships will be launched from the planet or station in waves. The last number in this field is the number of ships in each wave, and the first 3-4 numbers (minus 1 from the first digit) are the total number of ships in the planet's fleet. For example, a value of 1082 would be four waves of two ships for a total of eight. A value of 2005 would create waves of five ships each, with 100 ships total in the planet's defense fleet.
That's all fine and dandy, but both MissionComputer and NovaTools 1.0.1 have seperate fields for the waves, and total ships in the defence fleet. If I put 1 into the total ships field, heaps of ships come out. If I put 1011 (Which should be 1 ship coming out in 1 wave, thus, just one ship to destroy) heaps of ships come out (One at a time). If I put 0 in, heaps of ships come out. If I put 1000 in, heaps of ships come out.
EVONE uses the 4 digit method that the bible explains, but you can't save. I want to have a spöb that simply surrenders if I demand tribute, but it doesn't seem to be possible. Anyone with NovaTools or MissionComputer who knows what to put in?

(EDIT: Just realised, everyone else who tries to use the quote field fails, but I got it to work :))

I was about to tell you to read my annotated template, but this seems odd indeed. Could you try and put 0 in both fields of NovaTools? Or open the spöb resource with the ResEdit templates (open with ResEdit the templates file found in the documentation folder of Nova, then with the spöb resource selected in the resource list, pick resource -> open with template..., and select the spöb template), and put 0 there?
Try sticking some values in the ResEdit template as Zacha Pedro descirbes, then open it with NT or MC and see what it displays as. Maybe that'll give an indication as to how they work.
If I put 0 and 0 into ResEdit, 0 and 0 come up on MissionComputer. So they use the same method. I'm going to see if it works with Nova, and what the result is.
Doesn't work. Hundreds of ships come out at once. We could make a checklist of what works and what doesn't work.
0 and 0 = Doesn't work
NOTE: There's a planet is always dominated checkbox in MissionComputer, but that doesn't actually make the planet dominated properly it doesn't come up as dominated on my pilotlog, and I don't get paid for it.
Did you try the plain ResEdit templates?
You may have to start a new pilot for the "Always Dominated" to take effect.
No, it's dominated, just... not in my name. And as for the templates, dunno how to use 'em...

What?
Try 0 in the total ships field, then uncheck the 'appear in waves' checkbox. If that doesn't work, try -1 instead of 0.

Read Zacha Pedro's post again. In your Documentation folder there should be a ResEdit file called Templates. Open it. Then go back to your plug-in and select the spob resource you're having problems with. Go to the Resource menu and select Open Using Template... It should select the spob template automatically, otherwise just type it in the box. Click Okay.
