i got an idea after u said you might be making another sequel. i think there should be a way for you to be able to construct a statition you build u buy the equipment and u get the profits with maby a little going to the system your in providing it has a planet. i think it would be cool it would give you something to do when the missions are done and it could be programmed so it is attacked by pirates or a goverment that is seriusly pissed at you. and with this happening you should be able to take captured escorts and send them to a defense fleet. this would be cool. and lastly the system you put it in determines the amount of attacks it gets. like putting it in the sol system (original ev) would mean that few pirates attack you but u pay an increased amount to sol for protection versus putting in the stellar of a goverment that is pissed at you i have other ideas that will be posted later but if possible i would like you to respond to this please stop ignoring me

I suport you, great ide. MB respond!!!!!! --------------------------------------- If itΒ΄s quality software you can read "Made with Macintosh"
So... you're getting angry at Matt Burch? For not responding to your post? It would certainly be great if he did respond to your ideas. However, why don't you take a look down the page and see how many people have ideas for the upcoming version 1.0.2. Now notice how few of them drew a response from the programmer. So chill out. He has been nice enough to incorporate our suggestions into the update, and that's already not bad. Evidently, he doesn't want to spend lots of his time discussion the update with us. That's understandable, there are lots of posts addressed to him, or with ideas relevant to the update, and he'd need a lot of time to respond to all of them. You have a good idea. To me, it seems like a little bit too large an idea to include in a simple engine update/bug fix, especially since it is possible to make plug-ins that let you develop stations etc. But why don't you make a plug-in that makes this possible? Or write a story about how this would play out in the EVO universe.

Oh course, after all he MAY have incorporated many of the ideas people posted, just not responded to them.
I HOPE he is spending more time coding these ideas than arguing

Incidentally, I doubt wraiths's ideas will be incorporated into 1.0.2; building stations puts EVO into the realm of the strategy game - which it is not. Matt Burch probably finds this idea so foolish he doesn't feel the need to dignify it with a reply - or he could be busy coding 1.0.2 or flying in his plane; you never know.

I agree. If MB spends all the time responding to posts, we won't have them in the next version. Instead, we'll have a list of great ideas, but no game. We are lucky, in most software companies, the programmers don't pay any attention.
By the way, could someone respond to my secession topic?

Incidentally, the topic in #ev was "I lost my virginity while playing EV!", set by Burch. He DOES read the boards, just he wants to get the release out ASAP.

Don't get so pissed! Programming is pretty damn complex and he's already putting tons of new features in so it isn't like he has all the free time in the world. Besides, you can basically already do that in a plug-in.

OMG! Is it possible?...
Yes, 'cause I already knew that.
Perhaps if you took over a rival planet it would then be under your name for government. Any more ideas?

i think the green's enough for when you dominate a planet, tho

Yeah, but when you dominate a planet, you're seen as the bad guy (notice "Usurper" status), and the planet hates you and sends mercenaries after you. I think what wraith meant (who can tell with that grammar) is that a planet is under your jurisidiction, and it's your responsibility to protect it from pirates and such.
I don't like the idea, though. It would make EVO much less dynamic, and more like Starcraft and such.

He said that because it would make it too much like another genre, and not as good because it would destroy the EV/O genre.
