from camp I think you go 4W 4S to cave out of cave on other end: 4S 1E that should be the area you want.

Did you kill the thief with the book at the beginning of the game? If you kill him you need to fight the guy for awareness as well.

this one of the places where chioces made early in the game effect later outcomes. AAC is correct of course. On my first time through I payed the fifty gp to the thief with the book and was given awareness for my mercy. Recently I decided not to pay and take the book instead then had to kill the thief then translate the scroll.

Well, I got to the cave and through it. I looked 4S past the waterfall and two more screens which I believe is 4S and then I east but just small area with lake taking a big portion in the NE, stone stops from going east, south is the North Gidolan tunnel entrance. I am lost again.
From North Gidolan tunnel entrance go 1E
Wait! No fair! I didn't kill the thief with the book, but I didn't get Awareness! Bastards!

I have both awareness and pathfinding, but I did not have to kill the thief. However, I still have a quest "in the path of thievery". When I talk to the red cloaked thief, he just thanks me. Am I missing something?
I think that's a bug.

I have done this... I found Fungus's getaway... but no sign of Meresa. I just can't find him! I have searched in every direction for about 2 squares!
