Where exactly is Perugo Forest? Is it the same as Bleeding Forest? I'm looking for the thief that will presumably teach me the skill of awareness. I'm currently at the cave entrance to High Gidolan and haven't seen hide nor hair of any thief.
Also, does anyone know what the blue mushroom is for that I found in the hidden cave beneath the waterfall?

Okay. Follow the path to bleeding forest from when it starts near the go-under-Vanerdeep-lake cave, and if it forks go right. You should hit a wall of rocks sometime, blocking the right of a screen. Go down. Go into the cave at the bottom of the screen. Walk around. Push button thingie at the bottom of 2nd screen (looks like a Q) (I think it's required). Go norheast. Talk to the red scavenger.

Thanks. Shortly after posting my question, I found the thief's cave in the next screen to the east from where I was. Thief dead, scroll read, mushroom eaten.
I'm off to Witch Finger to ask about a shield.
