Yes, yes, I'm back, but only for now. Jeez, these boards are dead. Anyways, I try to get Ferazel's Wand to work on OS X, and it's really slow, sort of jerky. For example, when I go near some lights or anything that makes Ferazel slow, it get's REALLY jerky.

It's because of Panther. It worked fine on Jaguar. Try setting all the effects in the preferences to the minimum possible, turn off background tasks, have only Ferazel's Wand and Classic running. Maybe even quit the Finder.
I've tried all these except quitting the Finder, and it didn't help much in Panther. :frown: I was hoping it was just my new yet still old computer (G3 400), but I guess this isn't the case.
So the best solution is to either restart in OS 9 or Jaguar and play it from there. However, there are some rumors the next Panther update will include better graphics code, so that might help if you're willing to wait.
Hey, at least the editor works fine!

Thanks. It still doesn't work, and I don't know how to quit the finder. I guess I'll just have to wait, since my computer is very new, I am unable to restart in OS 9. :frown: (Stupid Steve Jobs)

If its a Carbon application, try getting info on the program and checking the "Open in the Classic environment" checkbox. May or may not help.

One reason these boards are slow is because Ferazel's Wand will never be formatted to work on OS X. Ben Spees is gone and Ambrosia just doesn't care any more. So trying to start Ferazel's Wand from OS X is just a work of frustration. If you can't start it from a previous OS then you're going to be disappointed. I'm really sorry. I hate to see a great game die because of lack of caring. But that's what's pretty much happening.

Wow, that is horrible. Will future versions of Panther fix this problem, since it is clearly not one Ambrosia will address? It's really a shame. I was working on more levels for Extemporaneous, but if the game is being left to die, it seems foolhardy. Alas, so it goes, I suppose.

I don't think I've said anything of an insulting nature in this thread and will continue to post on occasion here, as I have for the past several years, for the forseeable future.
If you have a problem with that, I suppose you'll just have to swallow it. Or you can complain about it, but I suggest that this would be a largish waste of time.
