What mission do I need to do to get those to appear in the bar?
I tried checking Antares, as it might have been logical, but they didn't have a bar there :frown:

You cant hire or buy them in the default scenario. There is probably plug-ins to this, but I dont know their names. I dont even know if a plug-in that lets you do this exists. The only thing I know that Empire: War Without End makes them buyable, I havent checked the bars in it though. Sorry I couldnt help more; hiring Bulk Freighters is just a such unusual reguest im stumped. And I guess so are others, unless there is someone with previously untold knowledge.

Cade is right. You can use a cheater plug, I did once. I bought a Luxary Linar and upgraded it to get 10,000 tons and then I got 6 Bulk freighter escorts paying 1,000 credits total.

Without cheating it is fairly easy to capture bulk freighters in Antares. If you kill enough pirates in Mentos you can keep your legal status in good shape.
...of course, Galactic Scourge allows you to buy the bulk freigher and two larger freighters as well.

You can get them legally, you capture them. Its not that hard.
There's a billion ways to cheat, and all of them make the game extremly easy and pathetic.

I'm also using the EVN port, so I don't know if any EVC plug-ins work on it.

Then he needs more crewmen. How good are the chances of captures with a Kestrel? Atleast it would have much more crew than a Argosy. Disproportionally much compared to a Argosy. A Argosy has only 28 crew, but Kestrel has 196.

No. You may be able to capture one with an Argosy or Light Freighter.

A Bulk Freighter has a crew of 32. A Light Freighter has a crew of 19. So it is not only a terrible fighting ship, it even has weaker chances of capture. So screw the Light Freighter and go for the Argosy. It is good enough stock to wipe them, but you may want to heavily upgrade if if there is any Feds near. Get a Missile Jammer, all speed upgrades, Durasteel, and either replace the Lasers with Proton Turrets or get Missiles depending on your playing style.
Get torps too, they usually disable a bulk freighter in one shot.

Currently it's stocked with 2 Proton Turrets and 3 cannons, and a Javelin Pod.
I got a Corvette to 50% shields with it
Then I had to flee :frown:
