Okay, I lost the corvette issue. But think, the Kestrel is 10 million, the defender is only 100,000. That's 100 defenders for 1 Kestrel. Personally I would rather have the fleet of 100 defenders.

100 defenders does sound cool, but I would rather have 10 Lightnings.

I like the Kestel for 2 reasons.
1)Tought enough to go toe-to-toe at close range with any frigate(properly equiped). 2)Fast enough to out run missles/torps - good for demanding tribute, or so the tactic I used.(demand far away, let them shoot missles till they run out - then move in for the kill)
At least the one I used - its been years since I've played though.
