Money

What are some easy ways of making money (without cheating)?

I got one (You need a decent ship and a tractor beam):
1. Find a Kestrel to destroy.
2. Disable it's Lightnings and the Kestrel.
3. With the tractor beam carry the Lightnings back to the Kestrel
4. Board the Kestrel and take the Lightnings. (Sometimes it does not work.)
5. Sell the Lightnings. (1.00M credits each.)

I prefer to just buy a supertanker in GS, and, when I have the cash, buy a bunch of those outfits that give you 10 tons of weapons space for sacrificing one jump of fuel (a supertanker has 300 jumps, so no worries there :p), and then buy a bunch of cargo expansions, and then just trade without the worry of all those pirates that come along when you hire more than 3 escorts.

(edit)oh, and conquering the galaxy generates some fast cash as well ;)(/edit)

When can you buy a supertanker in GS?  OMG!!!1 300 jumps? That enough to cross the galaxy twice. Wait, scratch that. Its enough to cross the whole EVO universe. I didnt know theres a outfit with which you get 10 tons of weapons space for one jump of fuel. Whats it called? Cargo expansions... it doesnt come with much cargo space, or you want to get more after all those mass expansions? Yes, vaporize those Lightnings and Rapiers that come after you with Torpedos and Proton Turrets. ... And gets a Kestrel on your tail every few jumps ;).

I am eager to try to ansver mission questions

Well, when playing EV, I have a few cash tips...

1. Check the maps in the mission computers. Don't just take one mission. Take several missions that end up in the same region of space.

2. Passenger Missions Are Your Friend. 10,000 credits, no time limit, and they don't take up any space. I mean, what's not to love?

3.Never deadhead. Deadheading is a nautical term meaning "traveling with an empty hold". It wastes time, money, and gas.

4.Avoid empty systems like the plague if you have a small, weak ship. There are a lot of very bad, very powerful pirates in these systems.

5.Avoid Pirate systems and the surrounding area if you have a small, weak ship.

6. Of course, if you don't want to avoid pirate systems (don't we all love attacking pirates?) then by all means attack the pirates. ALWAYS use your guns to attack. NEVER use projectile weapons. They cost money. Guns are free. When boarding pirate ships, go for the weapons, the cargo, and THEN the fuel. (If you need the gas, go grab the fuel first by all means.) Selling stolen weapons has a better profit margin than cargo, IMHO.

7. Save your cash. Upgrade your ship all at one time, not bit by bit. A half-upgraded ship is almost worse than a non-upgraded one.

Cheers,
Guapo

What if a Pirate Kestrel attacks you when youre in something light like a Argosy? Then you MUST use projectile weapons, because youre not going to survive with guns only. The small saving of costs when you dont use projectiles is not worth it you cant live.

3. This is a nice tip, though I really wish EV made players incur higher fuel and maintenance costs...I mean, in EVN there's a very limited level of this, but really, I think getting a tank of gas is far too easy. If things like this were more limiting, I think this tip would become more significant.

7. This one seems a litte ambiguous...you mean that it's best to upgrade straight from a Scoutship to a Corvette rather than from Scoutship to Courier to Clipper to Argosy to Rapier to Corvette, right? I mean, upgrades as in outfits don't matter as they don't depreciate when you buy them, unlike your ship (this is another quirk, in my view).

Just thought I'd like to comment.

Why do you think its far too easy? Its cheap (only a few hunder cr) because its something you must do, very often because you need to do every few jumps. Would you like it to cost 10,000 credits so a Shuttle would have absolutely no money after landing after being out of fuel? Or that all missions except rush missions would pay nothing, so that it would extremely difficult to collect credits with your Shuttle. Or that onec you get rich 10 refuels cost as much as a Thrust Enchanchement? Yeah, its a little radical. Suggesting that you keep your Scoutship until you get a Corvette. Its too tiresome, and Scoutships are too weak.

I agree, but if you cheat and own a forklift it is possible. 😄

Destroyer E is the name of my ship and the name has a good meaning.

1. Get a Kestrel
2. Capture Lightnings at New Cydonia
3. Sell them at Privateers Haven(I think those names are right.)

You sell them for almost one million a piece!!!

From http://www.geocities.../civilian.html:
Ship Name: Allied Shipyards Supertanker-300
Cost: 890,000 credits.
Availability: Only on ore and fuel processing stations.
Speed: 125
Accel: Poor
Turn: Poor
Shields: 15
Armor: 30
Max Guns: 0
Max Turrets: 1
Space: 10
Cargo: 750
Fuel: 300 jumps
Mass: 10,000
Crew: 19
Standard Weapons: 10 Regional Defense Systems
Notes: These tankers are used by heavy industry mostly for transporting fuel, pudding, and other flammable liquids. Be sure not to be near one if it explodes. Creative terrorists have been known to use supertankers as bombs, blowing them up just as an opponent flies overhead. This technique was first used by Blake Roughman at the battle of Thanos.

Btw, shouldn't weapons pods have only given 5 tons of extra weapons space, because you can buy two WaSPs and two external fuel tanks and come off 10 tons better.

Probably  What I had once done is gave you 10 tons but created a slow fuel leak instead of removing a jump's worth of fuel. This was later changed to make things less complicated for the player and the mass was never adjusted. One of the many small flaws in Galactic Scourge not worth an update.

Weapons Pod: Your ship can be fitted with weapon space pods (WaSP) to increase your arsenal by 10 tons by removing the NHS-86 Fuel Control Conduits and the fuel and cooling lines for one internal fuel tank. Adding one WaSP renders one of your fuel tanks isolated and useless. Removal of the tank itself is not recommended.

(/B)(/QUOTE)

If it doesnt have any gunslots and only 1 turret, then the massive amount of space given by WaSPs is useless. Complete this abysmal shields (less than Manta) and bad speed, I dont think I want to fly a supertanker after all. Thanks for explaining the Weapons Pod though. Whats Regional Defense System? It surely must be exceptionally weak as it has 10 of them?

He said he used it for the massive amount of cargo space. This allows you to trade ALOT of goods, and therefore make money very quickly. He never said he wanted it for a warship.

I misread like sometimes before. Yes, it has a massive cargo space. It allows to take every Mission BBS cargo delivery in the galaxy. Or perhaps he likes to trade commodities? Then he can get that warship quickly.

Description:

Standard equipment on the larger freighters, a Regional Defense (ReDef) operates like a turret, however 10 ReDefs can better allow a slow vessel to defend itself and escape the threat of most pirates and trade scofflaws than a laser turret. Some pilots have elected to use both systems at once.

Stats:
Mass 2, Cost 2000, Max 10, Reload 30, Count 11, MassDmg 2, EnergyDmg 10, speed 1800, Inaccuracy 20, impact 350.

Or, the same damage as a Laser cannon, all 10 fire at the same time turreted with 20% inaccuracy, and an impact greater than a heavy rocket. Does not occupy a gun or turret slot. This produces a spray in the direction of an attacking ship with enough impact to hurl a fighter out of the way.

The weapon does very little damage, to small ships (due to the impact), but buys a little time to escape. Ten are more effective for defense of slow vessels against fighters than a single laser turret which also costs 20000 credits and takes 20 tons.

Why not a set today? Sold to qualified buyers at the better outfitters around the galaxy. Your cargo dispatcher and your accountant will thank you.

Aha. It is better than one Laser Turret, but only in numbers of 10. I was right about it being weak. It is used to fend fighters off in slow ships. It does massive knocking back (more impact than a Heavy Rocket), but very little damage due to that. Using Lasers and Regional Defense at the same time... is it necessary because ReDef looks to be so good? Atleast you could since ReDef is so light. Thanks for giving a userfriendly explanationn than ResEdit Values. Oh, and the last line sounded like marketing advertisement. 😛 😉

My favorite one for early money making is getting a Courier, sell the turret and buy 1 Missile rack, +5 Missiles. Head on down to Lethe Prime and disable yourself some Rapiers or Lightinings. the Raipers will take 5 missiles and the Lightinings 3 if you time it right.

You'll have around a 40-50% chance of capturing the raiper and 75% to get the Lightining. Go sell it and buy yourself another Courier and equip it the same...do that a few times till Lethe is really ticked at ya and then make the next capture (I prefer the raiper) your own ship and leave farily rich in about an hour or less.
