ev; evo port

since nova is being ported over to windows, will classic and override be ported as well?

I doubt it. But EV and EVO are being ported to nova.

So when the Windows EVN comes out, you might be able to play them.

No, EV and EVO will not be ported, but considering the information contained in persondude's post, that would be completely unesscessary.

They will not be ported at all. EVO and EV:TC will be a plug-in for EV:Nova.

They will? That's news to me.

I thought EV Nova: Classic and EV Nova: Override were going to be seperated and set up so that they could receive plug-ins, rather than being plugs themselves 😉

That's a good point — it looks like some overestimated the idea of that... There's also the consolation that the EV and EVO plug-ins might not completely overwheigh the Nova data files. Ehhh... More to ponder on.

Maybe a possibility that the EV and EVO data files can be ported instead of just plug-ins? Or would that ultimately cause too much confusion? Hrmmm...

The EV and EVO ports will be in the form of new data files, not plugins; otherwise, it would take forever for EVN to load (it would be loading EVN's resources first and then the plugin). New data files mean that any EV/EVO plugins could simply be converted to the EVN format and be played easily.

Quick qestion:
What if you havent registered EV or EVO, but you have registered Nova? Would it be like getting them for free?
Or what if you Registered EV and EVO but not Nova?

In my opinion, if you havent registed nova, Captian Hector should try to kill you. And if you have registered Nova, who cares if you never payed for EV or EVO.

It is my understanding—and experience—that all of the registration information (Like the Hector Përs file) is located in the data files: meaning that if you switch the data files, the different ShareWare notices will appear. My guess is that you would have to register all three. There's also a possibility that the cost may be increased three-fold upon registering the windows version of Nova, which would ultimately cover all three EV's.

That's my guess, but I'm sure there's someone who would know more about this issue.

The registration information is not stored in the data files, it's saved in a file in the Preferences folder.

As for Hector's përs, she is in the EV and EVO data files, but she is hard-coded into EVN's engine, meaning that it is impossible for her to be edited.

That's how EV Nova: Classic/Override are going to be distributed for the Mac, so I'd imagine it would be the same for Windows 🙂

Depends on what you consider "easily" 🙂
Certain plugs should go over easily....

No, they will only require a registration with Nova.
Captain Hector's old pers has been deleted from EV Nova Classic/Override.

I've been reading the progress log for EV for PC, but still have no real idea as to the potential release date.
The "home stretch" as far as beta testing was mentioned. Does this mean weeks or months?

BTW hurrah for Ambrosia. I played EV (as well as some of the RPGs) years ago and was thoroughly entertained. I am now in the game biz and play a new commercial game almost once a week and I rarely have as much fun as I did with Ambrosia's titles.

"home stretch" can be either a short time or a long time, it all depends on what sort of bugs are found during the testing.
