The first time I played EV...

When I first played it I had absolutely no control over my ship. Couldn't even land! You know how you start next to Levo? I didn't even know how to land and just stupidly pushed my shuttlecraft off. And got lost in the system.

It took me several days to learn how to land. Dumb.

Landed my shuttle on Levo. Immediately a window popped up with some Turin engineers offering me a mission carrying their excess cargo.
"Yes. (Geez! This game is easy)"
I kept accepting passenger missions which took me away from Turin. I got blasted by pirates in Altair.
Several Shuttles later (Yea. Several pilots later.) I finally completed that Turin mission. Thought I was hot stuff.

Graduated to a Courier ... with guns(!). Accepted some "packet" mission. Got blown away by a Lightning pirate.
"This game stinks!"

I was hooked....

Did you choose "Strict Play?"

When I first got EV I got if off a friend, and we had two computers in our study so we used to each start up a new pilot and race each other through the game. Neither of us realiesed that you could do the Rebels and we both worked our way up to Confed Cruisers, before starting again. I can still remember my first Corvette. It was called 'Solitary Arsenal'.
