You think you're mad, I can't even get my email because so many people are hitting our ftp site 😉

But seriously, lots of people are trying to get it right now, there's only so much bandwidth to go around, even on a T3. You can get the demo at (url="http://"http://www.MacGameFiles.com/")http://www.MacGameFiles.com/(/url) as well...

I just turn off the music and run iTunes in the background.

Apple killed Input Sprocket. Apple isn't supporting InputSprocket under Mac OS X...

Yeh, I'm aware of this, roll-on 10.1 is all I can say. It's a minor problem that can be easily solved by using a utility like USB Overdrive, but it would have been nice. I'm sure it would have been a extra un-needed hassle having to implement 3 different input mechanisms (MacOS 8/9, OS X, Win32) within Coldstone, that and complicated the nice cross-compile!

ouch! I suppose thats one advantage of living in the UK and being able to grab it as soon as you released it. BTW, we only have the smaller 30Mb demo mirrored at MGF :frown:

I thought I'd pop by to say kudos to Beenox, Ambrosia, and the beta team for an awesome game. I downloaded the demo last night, and you guys (beta testers excluded 😛 ) have just snagged another $25 of my hard-earned money. Great job! 🙂 I think I'll wait for the CDs to be pressed before I register though.

So...does this mean we have a Coldstone beta showing up in our e-mail boxes soon? 🙂

I hate to do this but I need to vent.

After about 28 hours of downloading (2.5k-0.5k/s...with occasional breaks for phone calls) I finally finished downloading the full version! Here are the thoughts racing through my head when it happened:

woohoo!
(15 seconds or so later)
oh...wait...what is this error that keeps coming up when I try to mount the image?
(another second passes)
Corrupt? How could it be corrupt? I sense no evil presense? I do not understand.
(time doesn't pass)
Grrr..Must destroy computer! Must destroy world! AAAARRRGG!!!
(time passes)
(time passes)
(time passes)
Well, I didn't need to make any phonecalls tomorrow anyway.

Just thought I'd share.

oh man, sorry to hear that your download didn't come through :frown:

No big deal...i'm sure the same thing has happened to everyone here at least once. It will just make the game that much more fun to play! 😄

(must somehow justify to myself the horrible curse that has befallen me! ....want..to..play....POG.........)

😉

Sorry, no joy on getting the full version mirrored at MGF...yet! Hopefully we'll have it on a future MAcGamesCD tho.
Nasty to here about the dl problems, I remember such things from my days of 56k. spose it adds to the anticipation and excitement tho 😉

Hey I noticed POG need mac os 9 will it work with 8.6 at all? I was also wondering if future ambrosia games will need mac os 9 as well especially Escape Velocity Nova?

Wow.
I downloaded PoG with reservations, the screenshots didn't look that great, I had some false impressions of the gaming system. Basically, I was not thinking of buying the game, just getting the demo as "something new."
Needless to say I will be online giving $25 to Ambrosia tonight. I love the gaming system and story lines. The reason why so many games lose interest is because of lack of quests/missions. Diablo I got boring when the missions dried up as did Angband. I even dropped EV (only for a short while) due to gap between one mission and the next. This is far from the case with PoG.
(in Mr .Maggo voice) Ambrosia, you've done it again! (/maggo)
I look forward to getting the full version, and entering the Learning Tree with my Level 8 Page. Thanks again.

You can use PoG on 8.6/8.5 if you install CarbonLib from Apple's (url="http://"http://www.apple.com/")website(/url). And all future games that come out for OS X too will need OS 9 or CarbonLib installed if you have 8.6.

Not necessarily. It's quite possible to make both Carbon and Classic versions of the same program.

I would like to note that there is one good thing related to PoG about bad download times. That is, I don't have a computer capable of running PoG at the moment(but likely will soon), so I have no incentive to try to download a file at the time during which the most number of people will want to try to download it.
