How do you conquer Sol if u r a rebel?

I've played EV a lot. I own all the independent systems and some confed ones. But how do you conquer Earth and other planets with seemingly endless defence fleets?

Any help is appreciated.

Patience.

Patience, or if you can fill the system with 36 ships (fighters, escorts, whatever) then they cannot send out a defense fleet.

Oh, and just a suggestion: For the sake of your reputation, spell out words like "you" and "are", especially in topics.

I tried once in a Cruiser (rebel). It's tough. Ifyou have nothing to do, just sit there and kill them all. If you have to conquer it, and don't feel like wastin 2+ hours, cheat.

I've taken the entire Sol system before, but the truth is, it's a waste of time. Patience and a good twelve or so hours should do the job. 😉

I tried to take it once. I rigged up a plug so I had a confed cruiser with shield rechargers that raised shields faster than anything could take them down. I made a turret that fired what looked like neutron blaster rounds but one could destroy ANYTHING. I also made escort ships that had the same capabilities. Honestly, I gave up trying to take it after about an hour of endless ships.

First of all, it's impossible to conquer systems in Escape Velocity. You can dominate planets, but that doesn't make you a governmental figure or anything like that; you're just the local mobster who's scared everyone into paying protection money.

Second, you aren't really supposed to be able to dominate the planets in the Sol system. They have the largest possible defence fleets, so you have to either take advantage of cheats or engine bugs, or go through hours of repetitive battles. All in all, I can't see why there's any point. If you've run out of things to do in the base scenario, there's still plenty to do in plug-ins. If you haven't tried it already, I suggest Ben Singley's Pale.

If it weren't for the fact that you visit these boards on a regular basis, I'd think you were part Vulcan. 😉

Depends on whether or not you think Vulcans are good. 😛

Humans are highly illogical. 😛

You know, even if this goes off on a Vulcan tangent, it can still be sorta EV related, since the planet Vulcan is in the Eridani system. We have one in EV. Too bad it isn't a superhot planet in the game. 😉

i figured it would take around twelve hours. i took a look at the defense fleet number with ev-edit, and it says it has over 3000 frigates. i cant remember the name of the planet (some rebel planet in the south-east quadrant; starts with "s") but it had 1000 rebel destroyers. using the alien cruiser, it took 4 hours to take it. so i has guessing it would take around 12 hours to take earth. Ive taken mars and luna before, only because i reduced their defense fleet. the only places i havent ever been able to dominate are ruby, earth and starport alpha

You might be able to do it faster (cheating of course). In EVO I made a gun that spat out space mines in random directions (lots of space mines). I gave them a huge balst radius and one could clear all the ships in the system. If you just sit on top of the plaent and fire and fire and fire they will eventually run out of defenders. Again it's just a matter of who has the time.

Don't forget the Vulcan system, the empty system to the right of Levo. Every since I've started playing EV, I've thought that something should go there ... or not.

God bless,

Heh, all you have to do is hit as many as you can in one round, then jump to another system and land, the defense number does NOT RESET. I do it all the time. If you play EV for a year and take 10 Earth ships a day, or for a month and take 100 a day, you'll get Earth or any Sol planet.

That's one fact about the EV engine I was totally unaware of...

No one seems to know either!!

Seriously, go to a system where you know how many defender ships they have and try it, or leave one remaining in a small defense fleet, leave, land and return, when you demand, you will only get one defender!

That's an excellent idea. I really never knew about that.

Well geez, I'll be sure to remember that one...

Another little something I found out in EV recently is about the missions. If you land somewhere and see a bunch of missions in the computer that aren't worth taking, accept one of them and leave the mission computer. Then view your missions, and abort the one you just accepted. Go back to the mission computer, and you'll get a new list of available missions.
