I got a More Mac Cube CD pack for my birthday one year. That's when I first encountered EV, I thought it was cool, but I couldn't save. (It was still on the CD) That was also the first time I saw Warcraft. Later I downloaded EV so I could save.

i was over at a friends house and he pulled up escape velocity and let me blast 'fed gunships in a rebel cruiser. i got hooked right there.

I got it off a MacAddict cd, but not entirely sure which. I have a CD case full of "The Disc"s... I actually started the game right after version 1.0.5 came out. I was pretty young, and I hopped onto the computer that I almost never used to look for websites about the game I had come to love. I found the original EV WWWBoard and (url="http://"http://www.Escape-Velocity.com")www.Escape-Velocity.com(/url), and that was pretty much how I got interested in computers and the internet in general. EV kind of pulled me into the whole mac community. Then I joined #ev, and that got me started on IRC...

Sometime around 4-5 years ago, my brother happened to be looking on the web for games or something and he downloaded EV (1.0.4, or maybe it was 1.0.3) just to try it out. He never got much of a chance to play it (and eventually got lured away to other game genres) but the magic of EV and its wonderful expandability and endless possibilities (in playability too) captured me. Though I don't play it often anymore, I still feel a strong attachment to the game -- I would even say it's inspired me in many ways.

I first got ahold of EV on a demo-CD from a magazine whose name I cannot recall!
I was looking at the CD, hoping to find some cool space-styled game and then I found Escape Velocity! At first, only by judging from the title, I thought it was some racing-game! Silly me!
