I said I'd take volunteers. I understand that there's a Survivor computer game available for Mac now, so if it has a multiplayer function, you could always use that to pick your "volunteer."
BTW spl, even if I had to pick one you wouldn't have to worry. I'm looking forward to the amusement of taking all the insults you've fired at the HC and stuffing them back down yourr throat in the midst of the fireball your vaunted Macross will become.

1. I wasn't worried about myself. Lord Asriel and myself are pretty much immune because we are the leader and the weapon/ship/graphic designer respectively. 2. Yeah right. My Macross is invincible in all but name with my fleet and tactics.
Lord Asriel, when do you want us pirates to post our fleet stats?

Okay, Mac. I'll wait on the "boring" thing. Maybe more players will move it faster....
(And I wondered when my "declared himself King" post would come back to bite me. Very funny, Mac!)

No! That sucks. The hallmark of our pirate tactics has always been our maneuverability and I protest this rule vehemently. I would, however, agree to a rule against (a tactic I was actually planning to use in III) firing on an enemy as you "skip" through a system. In other words, if you shoot, you must stay and exchange at least a cycle of battle-posts with your enemy before bugging out of the system. I detest your rule as stated, Mac. (Was that worded strongly enough, or do I need to get serious with you .. ;).)
**
Also, there was an incident in BfS II where the pirates captured a system, left, and then Rak came and recaptured it immediately with the assumption that no defense fleet would have arrived.
Why bother with rules? This is how it will end up looking. HC vs Pirates As for the Dreden and Aliens, well looks to be what will happen to them.

Sorry to burst your bubble but you won't win. Those who go against the pirates have an unfortunate tendency to look like this

Glad to be of service.

Hrm. It seems to me that any time you come into a system, the fleet there would see that and start shooting. The main thing was to give the fleet already there a chance to fire, which they should generally get. Maybe we could say that if you do skip through a system, the fleet there would get off at least some kind of salvo at you, knocking out a couple of ships here and there?
I also like the idea, given that, of not firing as you skip through unless sticking around for a round or two.

Well, you may have noticed that I'm willing to negotiate.
Originally posted by Kaptain Karl: No again. Just the opposite. As soon as a system is captured the defense fleet immediately becomes your defense fleet. (And don't even TRY to argue "realism" with me on this one. You people spend hours every week fighting imaginary battles with imaginary enemies in a "made up" galaxy.)
I suppose that also has the virtue of being simple, so agreed.

Referenced from BFS-III webpage: Fleets may not be split into separate elements in multiple systems, the fleet must stay together.
I strongly disagree with this rule and its inherent elimination of the multi-system convergence and blockade tactic. Fleet-fission is a perfectly viable tactic, which presents no visible conflicts nor abuse potential. I would strongly encourage you to revoke or rework the rule.

A lot longer on wind than content, don't worry too much about the length. It's mostly just formalizing stuff that's already been said on the board. Part of the length is just me practicing in case I do decide to become a lawyer.

YOU WANNA BE A LAWYER? Well, I've got some hillarious lawyer jokes for- Okay, wrong board. But anyway, I like the rules. A couple questions, however. Like, how do you know who won a battle? Before, I was under the impression that this relied on the fleets gross price, but apparently, I was misled somewhere. This ties into another question: ?Battle Tactics? If you put in stuff like that just for fun, then I get it. But otherwise, it gets into lots of other "iffy" topics. Suicide bombers, weapon sabotage, and warhead re-wiring are all fun in their place, but I think we need a definite system. I've never plaed an RPG based on an actual game before, it was always stuff that we made up. One of the prime reasons I signed up for BFS III. Anywhoo, I have one last question (sorry for all these stupid little inquries). When you lose a battle, do you die?
Well, the only one I think I can answer on definitely is that you do not die when you lose a battle. If anything, I would generally assume that the "player" would eject, or that you would retreat if you were losing that badly. Have you read the BFSII topic? If you do, you can pick up a general knowledge of how battles work, and tactics would seem to be a big part of them, just remember you can't do anything to you enemy that is unreasonable. No assuming they wouldn't do this or that, and they always have to have a chance to fight back. It would seem to me that a big part of this is players willing to cooperate with one another, even when fighting. Just remember to keep all arguments to the discussion thread, and obey moderator decisions.

Dragon - I suggest reading BfS II, as someone else mentioned, for an idea of how that will all work.
Also, HC people, I'm starting to get serious with some coordinating emails, so check that often for me, if you get a chance, Ok?
