About a year and a half ago, I remember the official EV site having an upcoming section that listed plug-ins that were in development. I thought that it was a useful section, as it told people what to expect in the future. Unfortunately, it seems to no longer be there. So, I decided to create a directory of upcoming plug-ins!

Good idea, Starkiller. Something like this would be most useful. I remember going to the one on the old EV page everyday, drooling in lustful anticipation of a seemingly-awesome upcoming plug.
I know how off-topic this is, but you got me thinking about it. The ev site we have now (www.ambrosiasw.com/game/ev/) isn't.... satisfactory. Almost none of the links work, it lacks any useful information on things like trading and other tips.. It's out-of-date. We need to get a site like (url="http://"http://www.escape-velocity.com")www.escape-velocity.com(/url) was back in the day. A site that covers everything you need: from the best trade routes to a constantly updated plugin section. All the stuff we need put into one big honkin' website.

Ambrosia has basically the same website for every game it makes. We ev'ers say that EV is the best game they've ever made, but other people might say that, for ex, SLITHEREENS was the best game they ever made. Ambrosia just can't maintain a big huge website with everything there is to know about the game on it. They may appear to do superhuman things, but they aren't "faster than a speeding bullet" (though Andrew HAS been working pretty fast on Snaps X) or "able to scale tall buildings in a single bound". They're normal, everyday people, just like you and me. They're pressed for bandwidth as it is, they can't waste time on little trifles like trade routes. I'm sure that, if Jphn Q. Public wanted to do a huge website on Ev, he would be able to, but Ambrosia just can't do it. Although I must agree with you on this: EV does need a big website to call home, though.

whole-hearted agreement. but remember, someone else BESIDES Ambrosia would have to do it. And it ain't cheap, either.
In short- Good Idea, but Ambrosia lacks the money or the resources to pull through with it.
We just need a few people (or one, for that matter) to run a site. They don't even need Ambrosia Webspace. Or ambrosia could get a better server and give someone the space to do a site. Or something.

Just a bit of defense for Ambrosia:
1. They can't provide everything you need for a (at this point) very old game; they've got to think about future projects, not dwell too much on past ones.
2. "A constantly updated plugin section"? Saying as I'm the one that moderates the addon section, I can honestly tell you that it IS updated constantly. If there is nothing to update, however, I can't do anything about it. (as I'm writing this, I'm moving stuff around in the addons section).
3. As for useful information, I've started adding the stuff that was at EV.com to the (url="http://"http://www.evula.com/survival_guide/")Survival Guide,(/url) but I haven't added trading tips yet, as I haven't had time.

Hmm, I think I only skimmed over your post... well, I still felt that Ambrosia needed some "official" (hah!) defense from one of its moderators, and saying as I'm the one that updates the Addons, I had to chime in about that, too. You made such a good point, I had to stress it further.
As for the directory, its a cool idea, Starkiller. I, too, loved the Upcoming page, even if it wasn't updated that often, and the plugins advertised were mostly vaporware. Oh well, good luck with the site.
Hmmm... No updatesd in 3 days? And the plug STILL isn't posted? Has Starkiller been stabbed to death or is it just that he's in temporary retirement?
Actually, it's been 5 days, which is how long ago I submitted mine. Starkiller, I know you're around, because I've seen you on the boards, but are you ever going to update the site? It helps if it actually lists coming plugs that have been submitted.
