OK, I really think we should do this. We, the people of the EV board, need to nominate a representative to moderate this board, seeing as the old mods never hang around anymore. Once we decide, we present our candidate to andrew himself, and await his blessing.

Well, I'm not so sure how much Andrew would like that... but. As I understand it, Captain Skyblade may be getting a moderator position, though not on this board. I too thought about this, but it didn't occur to me to form up a petition, maybe more effectual then a single e-mail... Well, my vote goes to either Cpt. Skyblade, or Macavenger, as I stated in an earlier post... can't have too many good mods I say.

Hate to tell you this but the old mods are still around. Just because they don't post all the time doesn't mean they aren't here. Andrew told us this last time somebody complained about the lack of mods posting. And voting for mods is a very bad idea. You will end up with someone who is more concerned with being popular than doing what is right.

As I understand, andrew has quite a complex system for picking moderators, and a slot needs to be opened somehow for a new moderator to be picked.
Back on the DiscBoards, there actually was a moderator election. But back then, the admin was a student that had time to deal with all the problems, not a busy company president that had to deal with 5 or 6 products in various states of pre-release, beta, and development, not to mention a huge webboard system and an irc server. Then there's his personal life.
Its highly unlikely andrew will ever allow such a process to take place. He would get flooded with mail from people that want to be on the ballot, then he would get flooded with more mail from people who don't like the winner, then he would get flooded with mail about when the next election would take place.
All this would detract from his work and evenetually end up making your Ambrosia product using experience less enjoyable.

Ah well, then perhaps the solution is to politely inquire of the boards already established moderators that they join us here and institute the rules as they are stated wherever it is they are stated? Or, Skyblade could use his limited powers from another board to his best ability over here too...

Remember, the possibility of me becoming a moderator is still totally up in the air. I haven't heard back from EVula yet, so don't get your hopes up. If I did become a moderator, however, it would really help me out with posting webstories.

I don't see how it would, if you aren't getting a position on this board. I'm fairly certain that you can only edit and delete posts on a board you moderate.
Also, ZenMastaT, just so you know, you're leaving out one extremely worthy candidate in your picks by the name of David Arthur. Perhaps you haven't been around long enough to know him much, since he's been gone a lot recently, but realistically, he's more worthy of such a position than either Skyblade or myself.

When I said that being a moderator would help out with webstories, I was implying only if my webstories were on the forum I moderated.
Gotta agree with Mac; David Arthur would make the ultimate EV moderator. He's already the official EV dictionary.

Actually, he's not a dictionary, because that implies he just defines things. His brain is much more like an encyclopedia, because it defines and also lists everything you could possibly want to know about any and all subjects relating to EV as well as many other things.

Right, sorry about that David, I've just been going over the older posts, and I must say I agree wholeheartedly with what Macavenger and Cpt. Skyblade have said. Also, didn't someone mention that you could raise and lower karma for a member, and that would apply to this board too, so that is one way I could think of for you to have a direct imapct on this board, though I'm not so sure how wise such actions might be.

All the moderators are restricted to deleting (or editing) topics on their own forums, but they may raise of lower the karma of any member at any forum. Usually however, just asking the members to edit their own posts will do the trick.
Mod elections: Not necessary on this board IMHO. I have only been regularly visiting / posting here for about a year, but I am quite impressed with the behavior of the vast majority of my fellow EV board posters.
Also, I think a good Mod is an un-noticed Mod. The fact that the Mods have seemed so "un-lordly" is to all their credit.

Not necessarily. I'm of the opinion that TomWoozle is the best moderator on any of the ASW boards, but he's also one of the most known and recognized. Note that that last fact has nothing to do with why I think he's the best one.

I'd have to say the same about Soviet Mikee. Excellent moderator (if not the best in my opinion), and very well-known throughout the Ambrosia forums...
