My brother is trying to take over stardock alpha in sol system with the forklift.... he has tried an hour now and thinks hes very close to take it over, but I am more sceptic... how many ships has stardock alpha and aproximatly how long does it take to take it over if your using the forklift
------------------ if I have asked a question, please reply
ResEdit reports: Stardock Alpha has a defence fleet of exactly 32765 vessels, composed of a warship and fighter mix. Wish your brother luck for me. Took me a day to take over the station a few years ago.
Hope that helps you out.

32765. Exact same number as Stardock Alpha. You can probably guess why I've only captured the entire Sol system once.

It will still take about an entire day (or more). It took me around a week to capture the entire Sol system a few years back, so whatever you do, don't waste your time trying to capture Sol. It's really a waste of time.
Actually, because of the way Defense fleets work, there's only 2276 ships. Come on, Skyblade, don't you read the bible, and see how that number determines the ships? Either way, it will take a long time. All 4 planets at Sol have 2276 ships, as does Ruby. All other planets have more reasonable numbers.

Just proves I haven't read the bible in a few years. ResEdit stats can be confusing sometimes...
Alex- It will still take you a good few hours to take Stardock Alpha.
The reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated.....
Hello! Anyone remember me? I leave for two weeks and look at all the new people on the boards...
I'm not actually home yet, I'm borrowing a Gateway (yech!) from some of my dad's old college friends near St. Louis.
Anyway, about the topic...
I once tried to take over Sol and gave up after about 2 1/2 hours. My advice: don't bother.

It's going alright... It got quiet for awhile, but we're busy destroying pirate fleets and 'Feds at the moment. But soft drinks are still very much involved.
Hi Luke, I'm one of those new people you mentioned.
Whichever number it is, that is a lot of ships! BTW, where is Ruby? And how well defended is Palshife?
And as to the soft drinks, down with Pepsi!

Ruby is by itself down in the south-western portion of the galaxy. It's a Confed system back below some Rebel systes, why they don't kill it I don't know. Going by memory only, Palshife has a defense of 100 Rebel Destroyers, but I could be wrong because I haven't actually looked in the data file, just going by what I remember from last time I did.
Ruby is the most heavily guarded stellar that the 'Feds own. The Rebels couldn't take it over if they tried. Actually they could, but it would leave about half their worlds undefended from the number of ships they'd need.
For some reason, Ruby is only defended by fighters. Am I wrong?

No, no, no!! You people need to utilize the limits of the game. The limit is 36 ships in a system at a time. Have a fleet of 6 Rebel Cruisers (besides your ship, you could also use Confed Cruisers), get all the fighters you can and make sure there is a decent number of ships in the system. Take your escorts a little to the side. When you attacked they will lauch all thier fighters. This totally fills up the max ship number. Demand tribute and they send one ship. Kill it while holding the button to launch a fighter. When it dies your fighter will go and fill its spot. They won't be able to send anymore ships. The planet is yours. It takes some practice to get it to work but getting a fleet like that takes a bit of time. Good luck to any who try it.

Just set the defense fleet number down to a much lower number and defeat the changed fleets number. Btw Skyblade, why did you steal my bar's name?

If you'd been aroud over the intervening time, you'd know he hasn't. Mr. Moose created Boozerama Bar II because Captain Skyblade blew it up, and Moose apparently didn't realize for some reason that there were multiple Boozeramas and that they regenertae, so he made a new thread. Eventually, that one got too big, so Skyblade made Boozerama Bar III.

I find that setting it to 1 works fairly well, as long as you're cheating that way anyway.
As long as we're cheating anyway, the most humerous cheat I've ever used to dominate a planet is to use resedit and create a new dΓΌde type (Res ID# 195) using shΔp type 191. Then I just change the defense fleet at ruby to dΓΌde type 195.
Demand tribute, and watch as you are bombarded by.......escape pods!!!!
If you want to see this work, but don't know how to use resedit, email me at zkbacon@myexcel.com, and I'll send you a plug that does that to the system you want to dominate.
It's hilarious!

Escape pods!? Now I've done plenty of experimenting with defense fleets (like changing all the ships to light freighters or shuttles), but I've never tried escape pods. That'd be great. Plenty of competition.
