(url="http://"http://www.saberstudios.f2s.com/TheUnfinishedWarLogo.jpg")Battle at Levo(/url) Its taken me two days to create this, so I hope all you participants in the Episode II topic like it. I made is partly as a replacement for the old wimpy Unfinished War Logo, and also as a "memorial" ( ;)) of the Battle at Levo.
Tell me what you think.
By the way, f2s has been running rather slowly lately, so it might take a bit of time to load the image.

Wow, that's nice. Maybe you could teach me how to do stuff like that. I never could understand how to. Of course, no one ever tried to teach me.

Nice! But it is pretty complex, and the current image is quite nice.

Nonsence! Anyone can make good graphics if they just try... I've been using Photoshop for close to seven years now, and all the time I've invested into learning 3D programs and Photoshop has payed off. Get started now, and you won't regret it.

Thanks! This is suppost to be rather complex. That was the idea...
...I don't like the old logo, since I can't edit out the extra "I" without making the image look wacko.
But I have absolutely no clue where to start. Kind of like telling someone to turn on a computer when they don't know where the on button is.

So you didn't save the base layer of just an alien fighter? The text is easy to generate.

Unfortunately, I never saved the file in psd format; just jpeg. I originally had six layers in the old logo image, but since it's now in jpeg format only, I have but one layer to work with...
The Battle of Levo image has 83 layers. I did make sure to save this one is psd format.

Like the book says, "there's a first time for everything." I didn't even know what the cursur was when I first used Photoshop.

Wait.. If I remember correctly on the original BFS thread you had a picture of two alien fighters on attack. Maybe you could use one of them as a base?

Wow, that thing must take up a ton of memory. What resolution did you use? The most layers of one of my documents was 40+ It was one of my first psds, each layer was another filter I was experimenting with.

I could, but I would still have to practically recontruct the entire logo. I do have that "photo" of the two alien fighters in psd format.

I usually do all my graphics at 72 dots per inch, though if I'm scanning artwork or building graphics for print, 300 or 400 dots per inch is more practical. The Battle of Levo image (in psd format) takes up about 5.0mb. But that isn't much when you consider that the map I recently finished for episode III is 15.2mb. I still have plenty of space on my computer, however, since my computer has a 40gb hard drive.
Actually, 82 layers isn't the most I've used. Back when I was building graphics for the "Dreden War" plugin, I had 150 to 200 layers at times. I usually flattened them into smaller groups, however.

Let me see what I can do about that... I'll try to recreate the logo using photoshop, illustrator and pagemaker.

Hmm. Very interesting, only 5MB. It is of quite low resolution. I usually use 200 DPI, or 1200 DPI for very important documents or material for my business. The map currently in use is 3.5MB (in psd format), it has layers for each of the players. My computer has dual 60GB hard drives. I need that kind of space because I do digital videos and movies.

I see, so each layer was a ship or object. I sometimes do that, but I never reached such a climax.
Rak- You do digital movies? What software do you happen to use (Adobe Premiere, perhaps)? I find the area very interesting, and I'm considering investing a good bit of money into video software...

Yes, I do. I use Adobe Premiere, After Effects, and Lightwave (though it has been very unstable recently). If your looking into getting software, definitely get Premiere, and After Effects. You may also want to try Final Cut Pro, but I found it's features lacking. But before you even get software, you must have a very good digital camcorder. To do digital video, you need at least a model costing 2500+ The video image quality is the most important part.

We actually already have Final Cut Pro. But dad has experience with it, but I've never used it. We were going to purchase Premiere recently, but never got around to it. We also have a nice digital camcorder in mind, but have yet to purchase that as well.
Lightwave has been unstable? Use Cinema 4D. That will solve all your problems.

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll look into it.
Nice. The only problem is that since both the aliens and the Human Confederacy ships are red, there isn't much colour variety.

Good point. I've actually had several people ask me to change the textures from red to blue. But I figured since the Rebellion won the war according to the webstories, the Human Confederation ships should remain red. In a matter of personal taste, I would rather use blue for the HC vessels...
Rak- Cinema 4D is a wonderful program. Extrememly reliable as well. The motion picture "Gladiator" had many parts in which Cinema 4D was used to add the Colloseum and the crowd into the background.

Really? I thought all those movies used Maya, which is really out of my price range.

I see what you mean about blue, but perhaps the Human Confederacy could paint its ships a different colour - green, perhaps - to distance itself from both of the previous governments, seeing them as representing a divided period in humanity's past?
