This might belong in B&B;, but since it is related to the Battle for Sol (BFS) thread, I decided to post it here instead of arguing in the actual BFS thread.
Macavenger, I took your advice and read through the entire BFS thread, and I still havent found the answers to my questions.(see below)

*This is open to speculation, but i believe its generally assumed that Fed ships are more powerful.
A. If the rebels have all these resources to create all of these new ships, construct this massive fleet, and still have even more ships defending their colonies, dont you think that they would have won by now?
These are the new rebel ships:
1."C" Class Cruiser 2.Star Cobra 3.Assault Carrier 4.Starscreamer 5.Typhoon Carrier 6.Standard Destroyer and Cruiser modified 7.Firefox 8.Komodo Armored Frigate 9.Devil Ray 10.Assault Carrier Mk II 11.F Class Cruiser 12.Cruiser Mk IV (Supercruiser) 13.The Experimental Ships Fleet
New Rebel Outfits:
1.Turbolaser 2.Precision Bomb 3.Compressor Beam 4.Heavy Fusion Beam 5.Enhanced Cloak (doesnt disable shields)
I dont see where the rebels are getting the resources to create, test, and mass produce all of these ships/outfits.
B.How can the rebels so easily defeat ships that are supposed to be more powerful than their own?
See above.
C.Where did the rebels get alien fusion beam tech?
I believe you gave a hint in one of your posts, but I didnt understand it. Please enlighten me.
D.Whos representing the aliens?
They are still a part of the story.
My first topic...oh boy

Never argue with Macavenger. Even if you have a good case, he'll usually win. But, btw, I agree with you.

A- R & D can be performed by corporations. Resources could be diverted from heavy industry. B- The confeds had no good anti-fighter weapon C- Probably from research into fusion beams D- This is between the confederation and rebellion, not with stupid aliens.
Macavenger's point was a good one, so I see no reason to go against it. The Confederation still has capital ships far more powerful then most Rebel warships. And just because the Rebellion currently holds a lead in production and raw materials, one major battle could turn that around. Go watch the Star Wars trilogy if you want to know what I mean.

Thanks Luke.
A. The Rebels have more planets than the Confederation, and have an active research department on Palshife. All war related stuff has been stepped up for the onslaught on the Confederation. I should note that you aren't complaining about David doing essentially the same thing for the Confederation, which he is, so what's your problem? Do you not like the Rebels? B. The new Rebel ships are far more powerful than the Confederate ships. I know this from practical in-game experience as well as theory, as I'm doing a plug(with David and Captain Skyblade) to add the new stuff from the thread to the game. The Rebel Supercruiser is incredible, I've watched it take three of David's best cruisers in an AI vs. AI battle without a whole lot of trouble. I'm also looking for ways to decrease it's power sligtly in the plug because of this, but that should give you an idea. Many of the newest Rebel ships use one or more Heavy Fusion beams, which as I'm sure you know are very powerful. The Supercruiser has 3, and they're turreted. That kind of firepower can wipe out a Confed Cruiser in about 5 seconds. C. I grabbed an elite Rebel engineering team from Palshife, and took them to Armstrong, where the Rebellion's war records are stored. Using records there and fragments of alien ships and ships they destroyed left over from the war, we were able to reconstruct Fusion Beam technology. D. The Aliens are still irrelevant at this point. From the point of the in-game storylines, we are after the Rebel Special Ops and Confed Pursuit missions, but before the Aliens have reappeared. The fact that we reproduced some of their technology does not make them a part of the story.
Hope this clears up your questions. If you have any more, please post them here, not in the thread, David says he's starting to have a bit of ahard timefollowing it because of ele not familiar w the stry otthere. Also, thans for posting this in a topic, not in the thread.

Not any where near more powerful than the new ones. I'm using the new ones in my raid, you have some new stuff and make up the rest with sheer numbers.

Sheer numbers? You've got that right...I do wish you had kept most of the original EV ships for the "Battle for Sol," though...All the new ships make it complicated and confusing.
A. Most of them aren't mine, in fact, you created some. B. Mine are all varients, with the exception of the Devil Ray, which is just a sweet fighter.

Yeah, ive started to notice this...

I complained because the rebels seem to be getting VERY powerful weapons in a relatively short period of time, unlike David, who has (only) a turreted particle beam. And no, im not a big fan of the rebels.

David, raid Apollo.

All of these ships were created/modified by the rebellion at some point(not you, but the rebellion altogether). Look through the topic yourself.

Heh, I don't get into flame fests, unless someone really deserves it, and he certainly doesn't.

I developed the Fusion Beams as a counter to the Particle beam, to prevent us from getting blown off the map by the Ospreys. Since it's much better, the reverse is happening. Also, the on ter new weapon we have in any kind of serious use is the Turbolaser, wich, havng used it n te game, isn't reall that bigo an advan. It's interesting, and myb smewhat preferble to the Proton Turret, but not a huge advance. The Precision Bombs aren't showing up much, and are basically high powered Missiles.

That's going to be a challenge. Look at the map a little closer, and think about what you know about the Alliance. Not going to happen. Wouldn't make any difference now anyway, we've got all we need from Apollo.
Mac, is your plug on the Addons page yet? If so, what is it called, so I can download it.

Sorry, but do to the premature end of the topic, and the added confusion from General Rak joining at the end, the plug is currently in limbo. I haven't decided yet what I'm going to do with it. I may try to complete it anyway, or I may try to morph it into a plug for the new topic. I may also scrap it, though I don't want to do that, really. Once I decide what to do about it, I'll let you all know on the board here somewhere.

I seriously believe that epsiode II would be a much better general storyline and such for a plugin...And since we had it all planned out from the start, it offers extra information to that of the original Battle for Sol.

I'd say release it in its current form; let it stand as a memorial to the potential Battle for Sol had before its premature death.

Sorry about the premature ending...When General Rak (nothing against him) just came and entered the topic, it really started making things confusing. Maybe we could alter a few things in the plug, however.

However, the topic was already reaching a stalemate before his appearance. It had basically come down to a matter of who could produce more ships, and the governments were fairly equal in that respect; the Confederation's worlds were richer and more developed, but the Rebellion had more worlds.

Precisely. Which is why I've told Mac several times that we could easilly finish the plugin, but we haven't made plans to actually finish the webstory itself.

I think it would make sense to finish off the plugin without worrying about the storyline too much and post it as a sort of tribute to Battle for Sol.
Incidentally, if anyone's interested, I've made a group portrait of the three main Confederation characters. A scaled-down version at half size is online (url="http://"http://members.aol.com/darthur1/group.jpg")here(/url); from left to right is Admiral Innes, Sen. Daniel Hodgson (Mars-West, Minister for Defence), and Admiral Charles.

Nice, but the reflections of the people don't appear on the floor. It looks like they were just edited into the foreground.
