Heavy/Javelin Rocket Poll

Personally I prefer the Javelin rockets. They are fast firing and take up little
space.

But what about everybody else? I don't use either now I have my lovely Rebel
Destroyer/Kestrel, but I'd be interested into what everybody elses favourties
are.

Javelin Rockets get my vote...Fast firing, and perfect for getting rid of fighters.

That gives me an idea: What if someone could make a plug that made a javelin cannon, (that fired javelin rockets) and a javelin turret? It would be interesting...

...Anyway, back to the topic.

I use javelins almost all the time. They only way 5-10 tons. Love 'em.

Heavy rockets. I'd say neither, but rockets are taking such a beating that they need to have someone fighting their battle. If I'm going up against a cruiser, then rockets are great in the absence of space bombs because of the damage they cause. Javelins are only good against smaller ships, and when you've got multiple turrets then there's little or no points.
Really, space bombs should have been included since that's another unguided weapon, but this isn't my thread... But rockets get my vote any day of the week, even though they do take up loads of space.

------------------

I really don't use either one, but if I had to choose I'd choose heavy rockets. They do so much more damage.

Thank you! Javelin rockets are weak its like throwing grass at some body.Their size tells the story perfectly.Small and weak!

Javelin Rockets are much more conveinent, though...The launchers are only 5 tons, and the javelin rockets take up no mass. Now as for heavy rockets, buying a 30 ton launcher along with 1 ton rockets is too much compared to what I could be using that space for. And people talk about fitting two heavy rocket launchers to their ship? No way...Javelin Rockets are the way to go. (In my opinion, of course. :))

Javelins; for all the reasons stated already.

...And I stink with heavies. I can't hit a Confed Cruiser with those suckers!

Heavy Rockets are way more fun. Get a Rapier, sell the torpedos and the torpedo launcher and stock up on heavy rockets. You can fire them at point blank range, and be thrown far enough away by the blast that your target won't be able to hit you. It's also a lot of fun killing Mantas with them. I learned the full value of their destructive potential the first time I worked for the Confeds, and suddenly found myself having to disable a Rebel Cruiser in a Rapier. Turns out it's a lot easier than it sounds.

actually heavy rockets weigh 2 tons. but they suck, when i tool over new antigua the defense fleet i fought their rapiers were using them on me and i dodged one and it blew up the rapier i had been shooting at. the javelins do damage maybe not near as much but thats the fun of it and they only cost 150-170 credits.

------------------

Javelins are much easier to aim at the hostile target. Once you fire off a small burst, you know when and where to adjust the angle of your ship, so you can score some direct hits on the enemy target. With heavy rockets, you can only fire one about every 2 to 4 seconds, (depending on how many launchers you have) and you don't get the same advantage as you do with javelins.

In the current plugin the Corsairs and I are developing, we have made an outfit that operates very much like the javelin rocket. It's called the "Gun Pod," fires faster, has longer range, but not quite as much punch. The ammo is only 100 credits for each rocket, making them excellent for smaller fighters that don't have the the cargo space to make much money.

Of course you have to have different technics when useing the two but if you know how to use the Rockets you have a much more powerful weapon. The rockets are aspecialy good for small sips which are destroyed with a single shot, try doing that with a Javelin.

Actually, I detest using heavy rockets on small ships, from Rapiers on down. The Heavy Rocket is too slow, and though it packs quite a whallop, I find it only helpful against large targets. As for javelins, they are wonderful against fighters, and can even help you out a lot along with turret weapons when taking on capital ships...

Javelin rockets. They take up no weapon space, and with two launchers they fire faster then the cannons. Heavy Rockets is only usable when you have a big ship and fight in close range so that you can hit the enemy and survive the damage being inflicted upon yourself. Especially when using the Clipper, I love Javelins. They're the cause to why Clippers can beat Argosies.
