I'm conducting a survey to see what your favorite original or plugin ships are. 5 credit "ultimate" cheat ships don't count, of course.
Here are the categories:
1.) Favorite fighter Choices: Scoutship, Clipper, Lightning, Rapier, Atmos (Clavius), Locust (pale), anything else from pale/EVGE/Frozen Heart/New Horizons/Star Wars ANA/SW2/Clavius and Beyond
2.) Favorite light capital ship Choices: Corvette, SDB, Mod-Corvette, Mod-Argosy, a bunch of other ships from pale, and anything else from the above plugs.
3.) Favorite medium capital ship Choices: Kestrel, Mod-Kestrel, Sub-Kestrel, Pale destroyer, Rebel Destroyer, Confed Frigate, Polaris Dragon Frigate, Neutronic Kestrel, Wraith (sp?), anything else from the above plugs.
4.) Favorite heavy capital ship Choices: Rebel Cruiser, Confed Cruiser, Polaris Heavy Cruiser, Orion Battleship (pale or EVGE), Pale strike cruiser, NPPK Cruiser, NPPK Base, and anything else from the above plugs.
5.) Favorite freighter Choices: anything from the above plugs.

I like the Atmos from clavius, the corvette, the neurotic kestrel, the NPPK base scared me in C&B;, and my favorite freighter is the Bulk Freighter.

1.) Favorite fighter
Without question, the tachyonic fighter from Frozen Heart would be my top choice. No other fighter in any plug I know of can take out a smart player in a tach fighter.
A pumped-up Corvette, outfitted to my specs. Good shields, good space, decent speed, good upgrade potential, a fine all-around ship. Ships like EVGE's Dark Stalker perform well, but nothing beats the original concept.
3.) Favorite medium capital ship
None of the above. The Polaris "Puma" Destroyer takes the cake. Great firepower, fighter-like speed, destroyer-class shielding. Truly a deadly combination.
4.) Favorite heavy capital ship
As far as the original EV goes the Rebel Cruiser is a favorite for me, but when it comes to plug ships the Polaris Heavy Cruiser is a good choice. The Orion Battleship is also quite powerful, but its too expensive for my taste.
5.) Favorite freighter
Good question. In terms of being able to defend yourself the Argosy works pretty well, although for the staunch trader the light freighter is better and cheaper. For plug ships, those Orion vessels in EVGE come in handy, and if you aren't on Orion's side they are very easy to capture.....

Well, the only plug-in I use with EV is Pale, so all my choices are based on it.
Red Wing. This is an old and a bit slow Orion fighter, but with its dual mass drivers and space for 10 shield generators (making its shield/armor 70/80) plus a neutron turret plus 5 sentinel launchers - it's a killer. I think Soul didn't see all the potential of this ship for the player, he'd most certainly do something with it.
2.) Favorite light capital ship
SDB. A ship you can modify for any needs. 4 turret slots and heavy primary weaponry make it an excellent ship for missions where you need sheer power (Pirate Wights in Nexus) and you can also equip it for everyday life, ie. torpedoes, missiles etc.
Guard-Kestrel and Pale Destroyer. I don't think you should put Kestrel-class ships in this category, though. Their shields are too weak to match those of destroyer-class ships. Anyway, both ships are extremely agile and do well in both ranged and "melee" combat due to their neutronic weapons (Turrets on G-Kestrel, Deuton Cannons on Pale Destroyer)
Confederate Mod-Cruiser. This is something. Six Heavy Neutron Cannons. Need I say more ? Too bad you only get this ship to kill a couple of Aliens. I'd really want to kill some Rebels in a major combat.
Freighter ? Somebody actually does trading during their career ?

I love the pirate Cruiser.(AKA, Wight) The wight is one of the best ships in the game when fully upgraded, with large weapon space, cargo space, manuverability, sheilds, and armor, plus a kick @ss desc.! Odd, terranov in pale is a mod-rebel cruiser. Not a 'fed...

Heh, well, Soul made it Rebel Cruiser, which in addition is Pirate. Comparing this to my favorite ship we can see how he thanks people for being a beta tester ! I bet HellHunter's favorite would be Shuttlecraft, but no, Soul puts him in a fully upgraded Wight !

the clipper, definitely. it's by far the most economical and usable directly by the player. lightnings are good in bays, but i'd rather save on the space and get escorts... so the clipper all the way, it's a solid all-round low-end ship.
without a shadow of doubt, (even though it's not listed) the Maskirovika Phantom (whatever happened to the Maskirovika 1.0 plugin, anyway? i can't find another copy anywhere, and i need one!). for starters, it's got trendy purple wings :redface:) and looks like a space shuttle... plus, for four million credits, you get a solid ship in between a corvette and a kestrel. it isn't under or overpriced, and there's ample room to make a really mean fighting machine out of it... i flew mine up until i bought my new iMac and moved, now i don't have the pilot file or the plug anymore).
well, i'd have to take an upgraded Maskirovika Phantom again. my Phantom handled the Alien and T.A.G. missions after i'd spent some serious cash on it.
the Rebel Cruiser, because it's priced better than the confed one for what you get. as an added bonus, it doesn't turn quite so terribly (or maybe that's just an effect of the ship's innate coolness).
the Light Freighter. this may seem weird, but it's a perfect bridge between a shuttle and a clipper... and it turns very, very well and has great fuel economy. where can you go wrong? oh, right, the shields and armour. well, those can always be upgraded... but for your money, you're getting a quality ship.
P.S. does ANYONE know where i can get the Maskirovika plug?
Maskirovaka doesn't exist as a separate plug anymore. It was combined with Clavius and one other plug made by the same people to make. "Clavius and Beyond" The latest version of CaB is in the EV.com archives. It still has all the maskirovaka ships and maskirovaka station. I'm just going to say that my favorite ship ever was the NPPK Titan. It looked cool, and even though it was slow, it packed major whoop *** with a beam and fighters on it.
